Had an attack yesterday

I had to be taken to the school nurse yesterday because in the middle of a lesson, I started feeling dizzy, hot and felt like my heart was jumping out of my chest. The nurse sent me home and ordered me to take the day off today. I saw my doctor and she said that it was dehydration and exhaustion leading to an anxiety attack. I have been under a lot of stress lately- my mom has been in the hospital for over a month now, I'm 22 weeks pg, and my relationship with my co-teacher is rocky at times. Has anyone every experienced something like this? I really could use some support- everyone keeps telling me to relax, but it's so easy to tell someone to do that, and a lot harder to actually do.

Re: Had an attack yesterday

I dont have that much advise for you but I also get panic and anxiety attacks from time to time and have come pretty close to passing out.
Sometimes breathing into a paper bag helps but its hard to carry a paper bag around ya know?
It really is true that you need to realize when it happens that its just an attack and try very hard to calm yourself down.. take deep breathes, go outside for some air.. remember it WILL pass...

Sorry I dont have any other suggestions..im sure being pregnant its even more scarier..
Hopefully it wont happen again.

Re: Had an attack yesterday

My SIL's 9 year old son had to call 911 when she passed out from dehydration at 6 months prego. This is no joke. I would take tomorrow off and drink your water. If you need to discuss your co-teacher relationship with the principal or even the teacher, you should. You can't live in stress like this for your pregnancy. Chat Icon
I hope your mom is okay.
