i order through a canadian company. I havent had my vision checked in over a decade Chat Icon

Ooh FM me please! I tried to order from Canada once and still needed a script.
I do need my vision checked though. I think I need to go up a step. But I could use an extra box until I can get a weekend appointment.

How old is your prescription. The law changed ( I think in 2014) that prescriptions are good for 2 years now, instead of 1.

I try & buy an extra box before my prescription expires, because I am usually slow to book an apt. & I am usually short anyway, b/c I drop or rip a few through the year.

Thanks! I checked and mine had a 1 year expiration. I looked it up and they need to give minimum 1 year, but could give longer. But, I called the Dr and let them know I am out of lenses and they will squeeze me in.

i am TERRIBLE! i sleep with mine weeks at a time. im ready to just get the daily disposables. looking for recs!

My SIL wears the daily disposables and SWEARS by them. Before that, she'd be getting pink eye all the time for some reason.
She wears the 1 day accuvues

That's what I wear too. A few year ago I got a rash on the inside of my eye lids because I wore the same contacts for so long. When I finally took them out my eyes burned for a day. I mostly wear my glasses now. I only wear my contacts when I'm working.

What kind do you wear? I was switched to Biofinity, and my Dr. said he saw improvement. I still wear my lenses about 14-16 hours a day.

I wear Oasis and never feel discomfort!

I don't sleep, that is my problem I think. I get only 4-5 hours a night.

I am on day 2 of work after this appointment and Forgot to take them out before my commute home. Today I forgot my glasses at home. Its just too hectic and another thing to remember!!!!

Eyes not getting enough oxygen

I wear gas permeable contact lenses. Always have.
Since they are literally smaller than soft contacts and they are gas permeable air naturally goes in and out. They are 'dry' since they don't need moisture. Your tears are plenty. I also don't need (nor want) to take them out for naps, sleep etc. I barely take them out at all. I buy one bottle of solution a year. I have been TRYING to be better about giving my eyes a rest and even got glasses but frankly I love having full vision. Since my Rx is so very very bad -7.50 and -8.00 I prefer to keep my lenses in. Doc used to lecture me about taking them out but I'm 40 and been wearing these types of contacts since 18. Never had build up. LOL I never feel them unless I get an eyelash oh then the AGONY!

i coudl barely sleep last night because of this post and the guilt of sleeping with contacts for the past 16 years. I took them out last night and my left eye was killing me. i had a huge sinus headache.

i hope the dailies i ordered fit ok

Re: Eyes not getting enough oxygen

I don't have the oxygen problem but I get a lot of buildup and had to switch to dailies many years ago.

I am happy with them. I chuck them at the end of the day. No maintenance.

I don't know what the law is for scripts but my doctor's default is one year. For me, he writes them for two years. He says it's because I've been wearing them for a long time so he feels comfortable doing so.

Because of this post I wore my glasses to work today. It's really annoying, but glad to be giving my eyes a rest.

Eyes not getting enough oxygen

I had an infection about a year ago and the doctor told me that my eyes also needed more oxygen and this was typical as you age. I just started wearing glasses instead and only wear contacts for special occasions.

Glad something positive came out of my post!

I had neglected to go to the eye doctor for over two years as 1800 kept allowing me to fill! This was a wake up call!
