Eyes getting lighter?

I know that most babies are born with mottled blue/brown eyes and that they can change up until 3 years old or so.

James was born with navy-colored eyes, not a touch of brown in them. Now at one month old, they are definitely getting lighter, they are a bright blue color now. Do you think it's safe to say that they might stay blue? Chat Icon

Re: Eyes getting lighter?

DD was born with dark dark navy eyes, no brown in them at all...they got progressively so I think the rule is that normally if they get lighter they will stay light

Re: Eyes getting lighter?

My ped told me that if their eyes appear to be getting lighter in color than they are going to be light...

Caden was born with slate blue eyes that have only gotten lighter as he has gotten older....The same was true for my twins...

My daughter, Ariel, was born with dark brown/black eyes...no blue EVER for her.

This is the same thing that happened to my DD. She is 5 months and is lighter blue now. She does have one speck of "hazel" above the pupil in one of her eyes. DH and I both have blue eyes so they should stay blue but I guess we'll see.

Re: Eyes getting lighter?

ds's eyes actually stayed a shade of blue until alost 11 months... then they became hazel... which made more sense since dh and i both have hazel eyes
