Dumb question for BTDT Moms Regarding Clothes for Baby

Do you repeat sleepwear or change every night?

Like the way an adult will wear a nightgown more than one night - if the baby hasn't messed it up - will you put a sleep gown or onesie on a baby more than one night in a row or always a fresh one?

Thanks!

Re: Dumb question for BTDT Moms Regarding Clothes for Baby

I use a fresh one every night. I feel like she's in it for about 12 hours, probably sweats in it, maybe some drool, maybe a little pee...

I would feel like she wasn't clean if I repeat- but maybe i'm nuts...Chat Icon

If she hasn't messed it up at all, we definitely will use it again the next night.

one wear, then wash.

he sweats a lot when he sleeps. and i find that sometimes if he's wearing fleece jammies, he gets a little heat rash on his belly. We try to stick to cotton, and he only wears them once.

As a newborn we would put her in a new onesie and her fleece swaddle every night (we used the swaddle for 2-3 nights). Now she wears her pjs 2-3 nights before we change them. She also wasn't a baby who spit up so her clothes never really got dirty at night.

When Rylan was an infant I switched PJ's everynight. Once he was older...closer to one prob I started to use his PJ's 2 nights in a row. If we have a lazy day and he stays in them all day he gets a new pair at night.

I have always used fresh sleepwear every night. Even now at 22 months, DD gets new PJs every night.

Re: Dumb question for BTDT Moms Regarding Clothes for Baby

As a young infant, she never had a pair of pjs that stayed clean enough to rewear, but trust me, if there ever were a night where she didn't sweat through, pee through, spit up on, or poop through, we would absolutely use them another night.

As babies and even still at 1 we do new ones every night. It's rare they stay clean.

Same here, and DD's 2.5. Even if they're spotless, she gets a new pair every night.

Good question. Since I just went through all the clothes today I have like 5 sleepgowns, 3 swaddlers and about 15 pairs of sleep&plays that will probably just be used as pajamas. These are all sizes 0-3. I have a handful of newborn but I'm assuming the 0-3 should be fine. I hope this is enough for the beginning.

Re: Dumb question for BTDT Moms Regarding Clothes for Baby

I had a lot for the newborn and 0-3 month sizes because DD#2 had an undiagnosed milk/soy allergy and spit-up every bottle for 8 weeks. It was probably about 12-15 sleepers and I had do to laundry every 2-3 days...For my first DD I only had about 8 and did laundry every 2-3 days as well, but not because I had to.

Re: Dumb question for BTDT Moms Regarding Clothes for Baby

It was rare for DS to not spit up, pee or poop on his sleep 'n play outfits. He only wears sleepwear once before I wash it.

As fas as how many you need, it depends on how often you plan to do laundry. Also, if you're BFing, your newborn will likely poop at each feeding and have quite a few blowouts. I definitely had a lot of sleep 'n play outfits at the beginning, but there were days where DS needed 2 or 3 outfit changes.

I definitely need to buy more! I feel so unprepared! What do they wear at the beginning - aren't they pretty much wearing the pj's during the day too?

Re: Dumb question for BTDT Moms Regarding Clothes for Baby

I had thin pjs (they were swaddled as well) and then footed outfits for the daytime...I liked to change them into pjs right before I settled them in for the night to begin a bedtime routine early. I think part of it was a personal thing that even if I wear my pjs all day, I need to change into new ones before bed!

Re: Dumb question for BTDT Moms Regarding Clothes for Baby

I'm down in Boca Raton area. OK - I'm going to have to google creepers - lol. Like some nights - I was thinking even a bodysuit and swaddler or sleepsack should be fine. Tonight, it's in low 40's/high 30's so big change!
