Does anyone else HATE the beach?
I really do. I think it is the last place on earth I would want to go unless I was on vacation.
I just think it is too crowded and hot. I rather sit by a pool then go to the beach.
Anyone else?

ITA! I haven't been to the beach in at least 2 years.
I enjoy hanging out in the privacy of my own home in my backyard by the pool.

I am the opposite. I LOVE the beach but I hate the beaches here in America so I do not go to beaches here. I love the caribbean beaches ALOT more.

If I have the choice- pool over beach any day! In Mexico I barely stepped foot on the sand cuz the pool was so awesome. I am not a fan of the sand or salt water. Love the sun though.

I hate the beach here - I almost never go and prefer the pool. But in the carribean where the water is warm and clear I love it.

I absolutely hate the beach. I lived in Long Beach (on the water with an Ocean view) and never once set foot in the sand. Running on the boardwalk was the closest I got to the beach, and I wasn't even thrilled with that. Needless to say, we moved because the water was just wasted on us! 
I'm very fair-skinned, with tons of freckles and the thought of baking in the sun (with or without an umbrella) is absolutely unappealing to me.

I'm not a beach person. I can't be in the sun for long periods of time otherwise my skin develops a bad rash that is really itchy and annoying.

I dislike all the public beaches.....they are over crowded and noisy.....but DH and I have a 4x4 beach permit which allows us onto private beaches to fish and stuff...it makes a world of difference......plus we come w/dinner sometimes

Not at all! DH and I are such beach bums! We plan on being there ALL summer. He surfs (and I'm learning!)
I have to say though that we go to the Fire Island beaches (Sailor's Haven, Tallisma, Cherry Grove, or Pines) and since you have to take a ferry there they are much cleaner and less polluted.

I HATE the beaches on LI! I can't even tell you the last time I was on one to sunbath or enjoy the ocean! The beaches here are so overcrowded, smelly & dirty. Plus the water is so murky! I will take the pool anyday
If I am on vacation, it is another story. I can lay on it all day long & just enjoy the sand & surf

I haven't found a beach here that I liked yet.
I love the Caribbean sand and water more but I do not like big waves. We stayed at a beach on Isla Mujeres (on the Cancun-facing side, no big waves) that was heaven. We could wade out for a couple hundred feet and snorkel, sit on the air bed, etc. I love that type of beach!

I am not a fan of the beach. I dont like sand. I grew up on the North Shore and the beaches were rocky and small. Going to Jones Beach or any other south shore beach was such a chore. It seemed like forever to make that walk to the water and forget it if you had to go to the bathroom.
Beaches outside of NY are an entirely different story. A different world completely.
I will say this though. There have been times when I have enjoyed the beach. But there is always SOMEONE who has to light up a cigarette and my restful day in the sun becomes polluted. It ruins the experience for me. I want to smell the outdoors, not tobacco.
I much prefer pools.

I wouldn't say I "hate" the beach, I just don't love it. I like to go on the beach with DH's truck once in awhile.
I do love laying by the pool all day with some good music on and a good BBQ.

I'm not a big fan myself and my husband totally can't stand it...he loves the pool...but when we go on vacation we go to the pool first and then to the beach for a little while.

gonna have to agree here. once you've been to the Caribbean, Jones Beach, Robert Moses, etc do NOT compare!!
DH and I like to walk on the beach, but we don't ever go during the summer peak months. way too crowded!

I feel the same way.
The amount of sunscreen I have to put on, then to drive all the way there, then to get out of the car and TRECK all the way down in the blazing heat-- IDK, I just have no desire.
It's pretty nice once I get there but I never go in the water and it's not worth it just to sit on the beach-- esp for someone who does not tan!
So, I like the beach when I can actually swim and it's at a resort-- like where we went in Barbados with white sand beaches and perfect swimming and sand but up here- not my cup of tea. 
I'm excited for Hawaii in Sept. b/c I LIKE it-- just not locally... if that makes sense

I agree- the beaches here are not so hot . I love the beaches in the Caribbean though. It amazes me that water can be so clear and beautiful.
If given the choice I'd rather be by a pool- at least you don't have to worry about sharks!!
