always, unless we are expecting a guest and we dont want them to ring the bell if the baby is sleeping...

i wasnt insane about it but DH and his family are. it is locked ALL the time. he learned it from his parents.

i grew up in a home where the door was always open. storm door was never locked.

Re: Do you lock your front door?

DH and I keep our door locked most of the time. We always lock it if we leave or if we are going to bed.

Growing up we never locked our door unless we were going to be gone for a long time. And usually locked it at night as long as we were all already home. But like if we left for a couple hours, we would just leave it open. And never locked it when we were in the house during the day. my mom still leaves it unlocked and so do many of her neighbors. But I didn't grow up in NY. LOL.

Both DH and I were raised in families that never ever lock their doors, or their cars for that matter.

yeah - we never locked our cars either if they were in the driveway or the garage or the supermarket. We locked them if we went to the mall or other places though.
