Front door, back door, patio doors, locked and alarmed. We have guns in the house and a dog. And I live on the North Shore of LI  You know what they say, you can take the girl out the ghetto, but ...
In the summer I may leave the front door open (with the screen door locked) during the day when people are home, as do 99.9% of my neighbors. But it took me a long time to get comfortable doing this, my DH thinks I’m nuts.
My cousin lives in the Hamptons, she doesn't lock her doors EVER to her home OR cars, neither do her neighbors, AND they leave their car keys IN the car.

Both DH and I were raised in families that never ever lock their doors, or their cars for that matter.

I have family upstate that never locks their doors, they even leave their keys in their cars unlocked.
my cousin does this too... and one time we were in his work van with THOUSANDS of dollars worth of tools... we pull into the grocery store parking lot... he says "Watch this"... turns the car off and drops the keys into the CUP HOLDER!!????!!!! i was like W. T. F.!?!??

ETA: even if I didn't lock my doors (which I certainly do) there is no way I'd say I didn't on the internet.

I'm a "when it's closed, it's locked" kind of person. DH thinks I'm paranoid, but better safe than sorry.

I always lock it. Sometimes I lock the storm door too and even though he has both keys, it pizzes my DH off. he hates when I lock the storm door. He is the opposite. Same with our cars. He teases me that it comes from the time my house was robbed when I was small. My parents instilled in us to lock stuff all the time even though the robbery was not because of an unlocked door. He grew up in a house with a lot of siblings coming & going so locking up was not too common.
A few summers ago I was alone in the house watching TV and a woman walked right in. She had the wrong house but she would not leave right away, she kept standing there trying to find my house number on the front door - as she stood inside. I finally had to scream at her to get out. Then they sat in my driveway pulling out a map & cellphone until I said I was calling the police. It was weird, I think she truly had the wrong house, nothing sinister but if I ever did that I would immediately walk out. And it scared the h*ll out of me bc my DH took my kids camping so I was not expecting anyone to walk in for another 2 days. That was one of the very few times I happened to have it unlocked. So I'm back to locking it all the time.

yeah we always lock ours. We don't use the front we always go through the side, and we usually keep that one locked all the time too...

Our front door and back door are always double locked. The only time we open the front door is if we get a package. Te back door is really only opened if we are doing yard work. We come in through the garage, which is obviously locked.

I use the garage to get in and out of my house and yes that doors is locked to, even if I'm inside. The alarm is also set if I'm inside.

My doors are all always locked, and the front doors are double locked when we leave or go to bed.
My in-laws live upstate & leave their doors unlocked all the time when they're home, even over night sometimes.... they have such flimsy doors I think I could kick it down easily even with them locked... I always feel a little unsafe when we stay with them & I go down & lock the door when we go to bed.

my front door is always locked. and furthermore, if we were to move to an area where they don't lock doors.... we will be locking them.
you always hear the stories about "something like this has never happened here before"... things can happen anywhere at anytime... i'd just rather be safe than sorry.

i ALWAYS lock our front door, like paranoid with it. DH never locks it...and if he does actually remember to lock it, he forgets his keys in the dammn lock so anyone can just unlock it! 
His family never locked their door (yes, on LI) and I always thought it was the strangest thing.
He doesn't lock his car doors either...
