Confused.........about moving posts
Maybe someone can better explain the process to me. There many times that I have posted on this board and I will receive an fm from admin saying it was moved for whatever reason. But who makes that determination? Is it people reporting the post? Does it take 1 person or multiple people? And what is the "families helping families" board actually for?? Last week I posted looking for a therapist, and it was moved to health where NO ONE responded to it, yet a post about tampons stays here for more than 2 days I mean, isn't that health related and not necessarily fhf?? When I posted my post about therapists, it was because me and my family needed help, hense the name of this board. Just really confused about the process and what this board is meant for. Can someone explain? Because I almost feel like it's sort of like if you don't belong to the clique, post gets moved. And it's really aggravating.

In my experience, posts only get moved if TPTB are a fan of the person that requested it to be moved. I've had posts moved that had no business being moved and requested posts to be moved that had no business being on FHF and they stay. It is what it is. I just figured that it's easier to go with the flow at this point, than to complain about it.

This is a peeve of mine, too. While I understand the need for separate boards, some of them get little to no traffic and posting on them at all is moot. I also hate that someone took time out of their day to "report" my post for being on the "wrong" board.  You guys really have nothing better to do?!
But, what I do to avoid this situation, is post it on whatever board TPTB deem appropriate and then do another post on FHF with a link to my politically correct post. Those are never moved and you can bump them until you are blue in the face. How that is ANY different from just posting the regular post on FHF is beyond me. But it usually keeps everyone happy.
ETA: And I agree that you can argue that almost any and every single post ever posted by any member of LIF ever can be construed as "Families Helping Families."

I post on several other message boards and LIF is the most relaxed about where to post and none other allows cross posting. If people posted where it should go, people with information will respond in the appropriate place but half the time the responses end up on the FHF cross post thread. That just defeats the purpose. If there was consistancy and maybe less forums with better descriptions then threads on other forums would get the traffic people are looking for.

ITA, its pretty frustrating.
I post things on other boards but they get no responses bc the boards get little or no traffic. This seems to be the main one which is why I tend to post things here.

I only really post on one other board and they have a forum called "the lounge" where basically everybody ends up posting about everything.
And posts really don't get moved EVER. The only reason would honestly be to edit or delete if someone posted something that was seriously out of line, or spam.
Perhaps something like that should be created here.
This is not the first time I have seen a post like this and I totally get how it is offensive. I believe some posters who never have caused drama and were valuable contributors to this site have also had this done (usually related to serious problems they were seeking support around), and some have left over it too.
I would like to think though that overall, a moving on a post here is not a personal attack.

I completely agree the tampon post belongs on either health or beauty........which is why the process is very confusing and frustrating. Maybe admin can answer this question??

This was a "generic" name before. I don't recall the exact name, but it was a generic name. TPTB decided to change it for business reasons.

I think that was the point - why does the Tampons question remain (and I totally thought it would have been moved by now) but hers did not.
its a double edged sword. they have to try to maintain fine lines otherwise posts will be all over the place and there will be little to no organization. sometimes its a judgement call i guess but it is annoying - just the nature of the beast I guess?

It seems to pretty much boil down to whether someone reported it or not.
TPTB do NOT troll the board looking to move posts. The only time they move someone is if something reports it. So someone saw your post and decided to report it and it got moved.
I don't think it's a case that only TPTB move posts of people they like, because I know they love me and I have had posts moved. 
It comes down to if someone either
a)just feels like reporting posts for whatever reason (just think topic should be moved, is having a bad day, likes to be a narc)
b)or just doesn't like the poster and wants to be a d*ck
Such is the flow of LIF and this topic comes up alllllll the time.

I have reported a post before because I thought maybe it might get traffic on another board. Like someone asking a question about mortgages or window treatments on FHF would likely get the best answer on the Home board, and I will report that and it gets moved. Particularly if it is someone who is a new poster and may not have looked other boards.
