can i see your wood floors - trying to decide on a stain

We are refinishing the floors in our new house. They are oak, and I'm trying to decide whether I want a light, medium, or dark stain. I'm actually (scary enough) considering a lighter stain... Normally I gravitate toward dark wood.

However, at least in our living room, we generally have dark wood furniture... Hmmm....

Can I see pictures of your wood floors - whatever the color? Pics with furniture, too, would be great. I need ideas!

Thank you!

Oak floors stained with Golden Oak my Minwax. Darker ones seemed too dark for us, in contrast to our furniture. We love it. It does have a golden hue to it, which looks really warm and pretty.

Re: can i see your wood floors - trying to decide on a stain

Not sure how well you can see them in this pic but here's a pic from Thanksgiving-time last year. We got the floors (oak) stained a java color - we LOVE it. It really warms up the rooms and also sets us apart from the other co-ops in the development (important to us for selling purposes later).

ETA: some of these pics might give you a better look (these are VERY old Chat Icon)

:) Thanks.

I can send you more pics via PM if you want to see more of the floor color.

Also, I was thinking, you can have the floor guy show you samples on your floor after it is sanded down. That was what we did. So I looked at 3 other samples, all darker, and chose this. I liked the way it looked bright and golden and warm.

Re: can i see your wood floors - trying to decide on a stain

I figure it is just as easy to put them on here.

The kitchen pic is our oak floors, with NO stain and with light furniture. If I could do it over again, I would stain them (it hides the dirt more, lol).

Ours are light.

I really like dark though. Maybe some day we'll refinish them.

Ours are natural - no stain - except for the MBR - we did Special Walnut.

We have a walnut finish (the camera finish makes it look glossier than it really is.)

(the floors were refinished not too long before this photo, hence the high shine.)

There are no stain on our floors - just sealer and poly

This is the bedroom - right after we refinished -
(OAK)

This is the kitchen, right after finishing and almost done (the second pic the floors are dirty) These are oak too, but a different kind.

Re: can i see your wood floors - trying to decide on a stain

We just had ours done. Red Oak wood with Colonial Maple stain by Minmax I believe was the stain color. Sorry no furniture yet. It is a satin finish.

Chat Icon Chat Icon yeah, you are right it isn't easy, but you will make a good decision. We went to Ace & HomeDepot to look at stains. They have little samples near the stain area. GL with your choice! Chat Icon

Lenox Tan by BM. It also to me has a warm, golden toasty tone to it.
