Can an internal actually bring on labor?
I have my first internal tomorrow and I am so scared! So many horror stories...
The whole process sounds so irritating...can it actually bring on labor?

Im going say, in general, NO. BUT when I was pregnant with the twins I remember them not wanting to do the internals all the time b/c of my cervical issues..and that was why they prefer to check the cervical length via sonogram instead of constantly doing the internals..ANYWAY..Based solely on that Im going to say that there can be some correlation...
I wouldnt worry so much about the internals..I personally never found them all that unpleasant..

I won't say it "brings on labor"... but I believe they definitely "stir things up."

i don't know..i had my first last week and i found it to be not bad at all...but my dr. is pretty gentle so i'm told by others who use her. i didn' have any bleeding or disturbances afterwards. i was scared too about it and it wasn't so bad-try not to worry too much!

I say that it can stir labor with my son they did an internal on thurs and I started contracting on Friday night.
with my DD the doc did an internal that day and I started contracting when I got home.
When he saw me in the hospital that night he asked me what I did. I said know what did you do?? He started laughing.
I was supposed to be induced the following day but ended up having her that same night.

Normal internals - no, but Drs can do things up there to try to get things going. They are not pleasant though
