Does internal exam bring on labor?
I am 36 weeks today and last time my OBGYN said she will check me. Anyone ever heard that internal can cause labor to start? I am a little worried...

Did nothing for me. IN fact she stripped my membranes at 39 weeks and still nothing!!

I think it depends on how far along you are and how close you really are to labor. With my second, a few days before being induced, my doctor gave me a "rough" internal (her words by the way), to help move things along. Regardless, I didn't go into labor on my own and was induced four days later, although she said at that point I had thinned and dilated to just 1 cm.

It worked for me. I went the day before my due date and she said "let's see if we can get things started". That was at 2pm and I was in labor by 8pm.

Hmm, I dont; think she is going to want to get things started. I am only 36 weeks and I have my son's birthday party next Sunday!! I hope she plans on being gentle! She better!

I had a few internals before then. If it was not for it being my due date, she wouldn't have tried to start anything. Tell her if you are nervous.

I had an internal every week from 36 weeks and went into labor 5 days late!
