Be careful who you open your door to...
I women in Lynbrook last week was robbed.
2 men dressed as FedEx rang her doorbell. She answered it and they pushed their way in and handcuffed the women. They robbed her and they still have not found the men.
The police said to always look before answering and always look to see the marked truck that FedEx, UPS, etc drive.

if i am home by myself i never answer the door. i guess it helps that my apartment has no doorbell working. i am in the town next to lynbrook, valley stream, but i am in lynbrook a lot where my fiance lives.

My FIL told me about this...and I noticed this weekend that our delivery guys are leaving the packages by the door. My door was open and he just waved and put it down. Normally I would be  but after hearing the story I have to admit that I appreciated it.

If we are suspicious of the person at the door, I take my 50lb doberman/german shepard dog with me to the door. They have no idea that he just wants to say hi, and get petted. All they see is me "straining" at his collar, and these big, white teeth staring at him (he's really smiling and happy, but I'm not going to say anything...  )
Nobody seems to linger too long if they don't really need to be there...
