This topic is one of those topics that comes up over and over. Some people say it's a celebration and every baby should be celebrated. Then others say you can celebrate a baby without having another shower/sprinkle/party where guests bring gifts. Then others say it's a ploy for free gear. Then others say it's fine if it's different gender/father/XX years apart. Then others say it's OK if it's small and called a sprinkle. and so on.
Bottom line IMO, if I found it irritating/rude/obnoxious/assuming, I would not attend. If I found it sweet/exciting/unassuming, I would go.
I just don't see a right or wrong answer.

I n my circle of friends we have sprinkles regardless of sex. It's nice to have some new things for a new baby.

i think a small sprinkle is cute and i dont understand why people get all fussy about it. obviously you dont need all the big items, but i think its nice to get a couple of small things.... picture frames, new clothes, blankie etc.
i think its nice to celebrate baby#2 or 3 as well.
i think it would be tacky if it would be a huge second shower, like at a place .... with a registry and all that...
but if its something low key i dont see whats the big deal.
