Baby shower for same sex babies about 18 months apart...
Im supposed to go today, she has a 17 month old DS and another DS due June 4th. She has everything already from DS1.
Am i the only one that thinks this is a little uncalled for? They are so close together. She is so excited about it though.

Yes, same dad, she is married and her mother has done both showers, i think she helped plan this one too. She kept everything from DS1 and they will be sharing a room.

I n my circle of friends we have sprinkles regardless of sex. It's nice to have some new things for a new baby.

I had a sprinkle for DD#3 who was 13 months apart.
I do have to agree with you that it is a little much. i didn't plan or ask for my sprinkle, my SIL did it since she wanted us to do one for her in a few months.
I just went along with it and enjoyed. it was nice celebrating my DD, but if it were up to me i wouldnt have had it. I mean we had everything we could possibly need and more.

I love showers so I would have no problem.
I only had one and that's all I would want for me, I have no problem attending a shower for baby number 5 6 7 whatever. I probably wouldn't buy a big ticket item more than once but I would still get a nice gift and go and celebrate. It's a party to celebrate a new life, who cares?

maybe if her friends wanted to do a little something..but I don't think having a whole big to do is needed.
It's not what I would do...but whatever. I had a friend who threw her own shower for baby #2 (14mths apart)..which I thought was a little tacky..

i don't think that's necessary. maybe a sprinkle or a small get together with a few friends to celebrate but not a big to do like a shower. and i definitely would not expect gifts or have a registry!

I agree it is uncalled for.
My friend is doing this for a friend of hers but the babies are even closer in age - 15 months apart and even worse - the second baby is almost 3 months old already! She is only doing it bc the girl kind of forced her into it (just constantly made her feel bad for not having one )
Although impersonal, I would just get either a GC or a some diapers and wipes bc what else could she need?

I think its nice that someone is throwing it. if you dont want to go you dont have to. im sure shes not expecting anything. Maybe get a book and some onsies if you dont want to get a big gift and she doesnt need one. personally, My mom is having a sprinkle for me next week, I am not expecting gifts although im sure ill get a few cute outfits...
ETA my kids will be 3.5 years apart if that matters!

Let it be...
We celebrate lots of stuff... birthday parties every year, graduations, promotions, anniversaries, ect. Why not celebrate the impending arrival of a little one?
Go & have fun. Just because she has a kid doesn't mean she shouldn't be excited about a second.

Personally, I would never want this for myself - especially since where would you put all the stuff! I would be embarassed to have a big 2nd shower but if a few friends throw a little sprinkle, I don't see the harm.

I agree, I don't get why there has to be so many "rules"?! It is still a LIFE that should be celebrated.

I opted not to do this or a sprinkle. My girls were 22 months apart. I felt like I was asking for more gifts and I knew people would be brining things when DD#2 was born.
I know I am in the minority but it is how I felt. I don't think a sprinkle is a bad idea, not another shower though when everything is still in good condition to use for #2

I agree. I don't see why people make such a big deal. Nobody is forced to go. IMO all babies should be celebrated.

I just had my second and didn't have a second shower. All my friends bought have been buying stuff for us.
I don't see what the big deal is if a few close friends and family got together to celebrate the baby.
We are the first amongst our friends to have a child at all and we are the first to have a second. I've never been invited to a second shower but I would not mind one bit if someone invited me to one. I love reasons to celebrate.

I never understood how some people think its rude or are opposed to having showers for a 2nd child because I was raised in a family where EVERY baby is celebrated. We use it as a time to celebrate our growing family.
I love showers and always look forward to attending. If the parents have everything then I would give things of everyday use like a box of diapers, wipes, toiletries, an outfit, GC to BRU, books, GC to a photographer for newborn and family pics. If this is her 2nd child maybe she can use a sit-n-stand stroller. Or you can just give mom to be a present to get a prenatal massage
