I can't wait to see it -- loved the book. It is fiction but brings up some very interesting ideas. I think it is a good think to question your own beliefs.

no boycott.
I know my faith, and 1 little book/movie/WORK OF FICTION CREATED TO ENTERTAIN PEOPLE isn't going to sway it.
It is indeed a work of fiction, but there is a whole faction of Christianity that does believe in what is postulated in the book. There is an organization called Opus Dei, created in the 1930's,and the founder was made a Saint not to long ago.
It is intened to entertain, and maybe to open some minds too that there are other possibilities.
ETA: I do not think the point of the movie is to change the world or to up-root the Roman Catholic faith. I think it is just to show that there are some holes & what ifs.

I wouldn't say people are afriad it mught be true, but I do think some people are afraid of anything that goes against what they believe and they don't have the strength to face contradictions or possible contradictions and examine their faith from an analytic angle

I don't know if I will see it, because I haven't read the book and would rather read it before seeing the movie.
From what I know of the book, it strikes me as historical fiction, like a fictional story based on historical events. I wouldn't boycott it.
Same with me.

I am going to see it but not because I think it is 'only' fiction, but because I think it could present an incredibly valid question of the history of Jesus and of early Christianity and of the Hebrew faith of the time of Jesus.
