A question about sand and water tables

We got this table from DS's aunt.

We haven't set it up yet and now I'm wondering if we should return it. With sand on one side and water on the other won't they get mixed and make mud?? I'm thinking maybe we should just get a sandbox and a separate water table? Any advice from the BTDT moms would be great. Thanks!

Re: A question about sand and water tables

I am not a fan of sand at all - so I would just put water on both sides. Or maybe dried pasta instead of sand.

So far, we've just been putting water on both sides. We'll probably eventually get sand.

we are getting a separate sand table and a separate water table for that exact reason.

We have one similar and I used to freak about the mess. But, I read that it is important for babies to experience different textures and see how things can be mixed, so now I don't mind the mess. I can always give her a bath.

I agree. It ends up being one of those things where sweating the mess isn't worth it IMO. The sand dries out (eventually LOL)

Re: A question about sand and water tables

i think its the worst idea ever to put water and sand together (unless you are at the beach)

we went to a b-day party last year and they had it sent up correctly... all the kids were a mess

Logan LOVES his sand and water table.

Yes, he mixes them sometimes, but kids get dirty. It's part of being a kid.
