Question for those that use rice for their sand/water table?
How much rice do you think I need to buy for this? I'm putting it where the sand goes. I just realized I never got it and her birthday is tomorrow

My parents have that for DD and she LOVES it. They bought a huge bag of rice from Costco - I think they got a 20 pound bag - They probably only put like 2 pounds of rice in at a time.

How does the rice work though. Won't it expand if water hits it?

Because I hate sand. I'm keeping it inside so I'm not worried about bugs or animals. Schools use rice and it works out great. The idea is to not mix them though  The Maritime Museum in Port Jeff has a HUGE rice box and Emma loves it.

this would never work for DD - ALL she likes to do with her table is MIX them

You use just regular rice? I thought it was "special" rice made for the tables-- glad I didn't go asking around about it

We don't have the sand/water table but we use "buckets" for DS to play with Rice. I got the "family" size of cheap rice at the store. Or go to BJs/Cosco and get the cheap one in the plastic bag. I would say 5-10 Lbs.
