Simple poll about masks on children at school.
Do you want the children to continue to wear masks at school? Just curious is there are a lot of parents out there that still actually want the kids in masks.

I do agree on this.
And the Governor said last week that she expected the school mask mandate to end when the state one did... Which is either next Tues or mid-Feb...

It seems that the reason why she’s doing that it’s because they’re trying to make these regulations permanent since it doesn’t hold water under emergency status anymore. Couldn’t and still can’t do it through legislation so they’re going this route instead.

I don't particularly care strongly either way. At this point I think it's a little dumb to continue with them since the kids are unmasked for lunch, recess and gym and play together outside of school without masks. That being said, they don't really bother my kids so whatever.

I think it's time they remove the mask mandate. My kids don't care, but I know many other children do and I am not so sure kids wear them properly anyway so what's the point?
What actually upsets me is these school districts making these knee jerk decisions. This is the second time now Long Island kids went maskless for one day, only to be told- JUST KIDDING!! Just keep them until it is official and final. Everyone knew this appeal was happening. My children's school sent out a letter today that the children will remain masked until the appeal is denied. No back and forth, playing with kids emotions, getting them excited for nothing. It's ridiculous.

Personally, I think it's too soon.
My thoughts...
It's still flu season. Prime time for getting sick.
People are going on vacation in 2 weeks. Would suck to have to cancel trips at this point in time.
Kids are gross (they are...don't act like your kid isn't gross)
But that's just my opinion. I tend to err on the side of caution.
Do I love the masks? No. But I think they have been doing a job.
So for now, my kids will continue to wear them. They will probably be the only ones but our friend is an infectious disease doctor and he's encouraging us not to stop. I will trust his advice.

My district’s pre mandate plan in August was based on transmission rate in our county. At the levels we are currently at, masks would be required. I agree with masks being required based on current level of transmission. When it goes back down, I’d be comfortable removing masks.

We got our kids unmaksed today. We fought in court and won. For a day
Guess what, assholes lost their minds over it
So yeah it affects me and my child when power hungry and/or paranoid scared people think they get to decide what's best for EVERYONE.
And 2 years in- I'm over it.

Now you can go away again until someone else posts something that triggers you and come back then to get defensive. Again

This really isn’t born out by the data especially when you look at trends.
Most people support things like abortion rights, gay marriage, etc.
Most people are happy to let others live their lives as long as what they are doing doesn’t affect others. Masks don’t fall under that category because we’re in a public health crisis and they do help stop the spread.
I’m not surprised by the numbers on this board. We’re here, just mostly choosing not to engage because of the nastiness. Most people understand that this is the dead of winter and we are still coming out of a spike and it’s too soon for this. If the numbers go down I’d certainly be open to it. But now is not the time.

Like I said before Hochul is looking to make this regulation permanent and as u can see in this board alone many will support her stupid, tyrannical decision. So, I hate to say it but we should start getting prepared to have children masked 9 out of the 10 months they’re in school, camp, extracurricular activities, events, etc, etc, etc. That’s the price we’ll have to pay to live in the beautiful state of NY  .
