Would you have reacted the same as I did?

I was grocery shopping this afternoon with DD who is almost 4 months old. She was in her stroller and I also had a cart with me so I was doing the pulling one/pushing one thing. I was "pulled over" with both the stroller and cart in one of the aisles and was getting a few things off the shelf. A lady walked by with her cart and stopped in the middle of the aisle -- I assumed she was going to get something so I turned back to face the shelf but apparently my stroller was making it hard for her to get by -- SHE MOVED MY STROLLER WITH MY CHILD IN IT! She didn't ask for me to move it, didn't say "excuse me I can't get by", she just grabbed the stroller bar and pushed it up a few feet. Now granted a few feet isn't far away and some might think I over reacted but I was pissed that she did that and I said something to her in a louder than normal, clearly annoyed voice. She looked at me like I had 4 heads and then muttered that I was a "f'in b*&$%" as she walked away. What the hell is wrong with people?!?! You want to move my cart over because its in the way, fine, I've done it before myself but I feel like you should NEVER touch a cart or a stroller with a child/children inside! Ughhhhhhh! Vent over.

No I would not have acted that way. She didn't want to distract you from getting something so she moved the stroller. It's not like she picked your kid up.

Would you have reacted the same as I did?

All she had to do was say 'excuse me'. I would NEVER touch someone's stroller.

This.

She shouldn't have touched that stroller.

I honestly don't see the big deal in what she did.

Agreed. I would've flipped, too. Is it so hard to say excuse me?!

I don't either. I always say excuse me first though, but if I get no response, which at times I do, I move the cart.

You did not overreact. She did by calling you names as she walked on. I'm with you 100%.

I do too with shopping carts but I think what makes it more sensitive is it was a stroller with her baby in it.

She should have said excuse me first, but I don't see the big deal either. If all she did was move the stroller a bit to get to something on a shelf, its not something to get up in arms over. And I probably would have reacted the same way she did.

I don't see that it was a big deal either. Personally if I saw someone trying to pass I would have checked the stroller and made sure the person had room to pass. May be she figured since you saw her and the stroller that if you would have had problem with her moving it you would have done it yourself. Just a thought. I always just wore my LO at the supermarket, it helps avoid those kids of issues.

I completely agree. I've stood there saying excuse multiple times just for people's shopping carts with no kids. Never would I touch one with a kid in it and definitely not a stroller!

I'd move a cart but not a stroller. Big difference. And even the cart I'd say excuse me first. Also, name calling is really unnecessary. I think that's what would annoy me the most.

Same for me. This happens to me all the time and I just move the cart if they don't hear me the first time. I don't have time for oblivious people lol.

taking the lady's side on this one, sorry. I've never moved someone's stoller, but I have definitely moved someone's cart before. Dont see anything wrong with it

I move people's carts all the time. I don't think I would touch a stroller with a baby in it. We all have our moments. Do I think you were wrong? Def not. People should have a little more compassion for mothers. If I saw a woman with a stroller ANd a cart I would wait for her or at least say excuse me. The fact that she cursed you out shows she's trash. Just try to be more mindful and pull your carts to the side to avoid jerks like that lady.

She didn't move my shopping cart -- she moved my stroller with my infant daughter in it.

I said something to her in a louder than normal, clearly annoyed voice.

Unless I missed it, what did you say to her? I think we'd need to know what you said to her to know if you've overacted or not.

I agree… and honestly, I have moved people's stuff because I said excuse me, sometimes more than once, and they were distracted and just didn't hear me. She may have actually said 'excuse me' and you didn't hear her, and not knowing what exactly you said it's hard to know.

THAT being said, I would never move a stroller, cart yes, stroller no.

Re: Would you have reacted the same as I did?

Perhaps instead of reacting with a snotty tone, you could have been the bigger person and just said, "oops, didn't realize I was in your way." It's entirely possible she didn't realize this was inappropriate. I know I wouldn't expect someone to react the way you did.

Frankly I think you did act like a b. It takes a lot less energy to be nice to others.

I agree. It was quicker for her to just move the stroller then bug you to move it.
