Unless I missed it, what did you say to her? I think we'd need to know what you said to her to know if you've overacted or not.

Right. For her to call you that makes me wonder what you said and how you said it.

Sorry, I probably should have included what I said -- "It would have been nice if you said excuse me rather than touching my stroller without permission and moving it. My 3 month old daughter is in there. Just ask next time." I honestly didn't think that was anything bitchy or inappropriate. I'm surprised at a lot of the responses on here. Since when is it okay for a complete stranger to move your child without asking?!?!

Re: Would you have reacted the same as I did?

She didn't walk off with your child- she moved her a few feet.

Honestly, if you are THAT protective, you shouldn't take your hand off the stroller. I get being surprised that she assumed it was ok- but you way overreacted. There were much nicer ways to get the same message across. So rather than her walking away from the situation having learned that what she did wasn't appropriate, she leaves thinking you are a crazy b.

I think OP shouldn't be bringing her 3 month old to the market. Moving a stroller is NBD.

She shouldn't bring her 3mo old to the supermarket ? Why? So other people don't move her stroller?

I would turn around and go the other way before moving someone's stroller. I have moved a cart over a bit when trying to fit. And when I'm behind an older person, who no matter how loud I say excuse me, they just don't hear me - I just turn around and go the other way
This lady had some pair to touch that stroller and I think the OP reacted appropriately. I would have been a little more aggressive in my response to her if this was me

Re: Would you have reacted the same as I did?

I also tend to avoid aisles if there are people in them I have to maneuver across....it's easier to just go around.

I'm also shocked and a little disturbed by the leaving the baby at home comment.

While it's definitely a luxury to leave my son at home when I shop, reality makes this difficult at times and he's now 6.

As a mom, I'm sure we've all been there when it's challenging enough with kids in public....

It doesn't help to deal with people like the OP did.

Perhaps instead of reacting with a snotty tone, you could have been the bigger person and just said, "oops, didn't realize I was in your way." It's entirely possible she didn't realize this was inappropriate. I know I wouldn't expect someone to react the way you did.

Frankly I think you did act like a b. It takes a lot less energy to be nice to others.

I have never done the push the cart pull the stroller thing. I always put the infant carrier into the cart when the baby was that little and I just limited the amount of groceries I bought.

I don't see the big deal with her moving the stroller a little to get what she needs. I am imagining between the stroller, you and your cart you were blocking a significant part of the aisle.

Would you have reacted the same as I did?

A simple excuse me from her part would have been enough. I would go crazy if someone touched my child's stroller

I don't move strollers/carts/whatever at the supermarket...I just go a different way, so no, I wouldn't have moved the stroller. However, I don't think the woman who did is this sinister creature (as some seem to be suggesting). I don't think it is THAT big of a fiasco.

I agree. I also find it strange that you had both a stroller and a cart. Isn't that difficult? Is this a thing now? It just seems like so much stuff to bring to go food shopping.

Maybe I'm out of touch with how stuff is done in the US and I'm in for a shock when I visit in 2 weeks Chat Icon.

I don't see that it was a big deal either. Personally if I saw someone trying to pass I would have checked the stroller and made sure the person had room to pass. May be she figured since you saw her and the stroller that if you would have had problem with her moving it you would have done it yourself. Just a thought. I always just wore my LO at the supermarket, it helps avoid those kids of issues.

I think this comes down to the problem with this country. Everyone gets offended by every. little. thing.

You were in her way, you saw her and YOU assumed she was looking for food on a shelf so didn't move your stroller, YOU have no idea if she said excuse me before she moved the stroller, then she moves the stroller a couple feet (not down the aisle) and you turn around and give her an attitude. I would have called you a ******* ***** too.

I don't mean to sound harsh, but the woman wanted to get by and you were taking up the aisle, then gave her shit for it. I guess in the future line your cart & stroller up on the side so you do not run into this again.

This is the dumbest comment on this thread yet.

To the OP - I agree with you. You don't touch a carriage with a baby in it - period! You say excuse me until the person responds.

You want to move my cart fine, but don't touch my baby stroller with my infant inside it without even attempting to ask me to move it first.

I personally would never approach someone else's kid - strolloer or not - for the fear of your exact reaction.

I think she was wrong for moving the stroller w/o saying anything to you - but I think you were wrong for yelling at her, I also think, being that you were taking up a large portion of the aisle with the push/pull stroller/shopping cart thing, it would have been courteous of you to proactively ask if you were in her way and offer to move yourself over ........
that is what I would have done when I saw her simply said "Am I in your way at all?" and let her tell me yes/no/stay it's not problem I can wait - whatever.

This along with the fact that you said you saw her trying to get through is the only thing that makes me say she wasnt 100% in the wrong. The name calling of course not necessary, but seems like this was just a misunderstanding blown up.

This, basically. She probably figured that since you saw her, it was either ok for her to move the stroller (since you didn't do it yourself) or that you just weren't going to, in which case she had to do it in order to get by. But I also don't think that yelling at her was necessary/appropriate.
