25 Things (FB Related)

Since I've been tagged in 5 of these "25 Things" notes on Facebook in the last 3 days, I actually ended up posting mine tonight.

I thought it might be fun for each of us to share 1 or 2 of those things on LIF ...

17. My Grandfather was a Rabbi. My Uncle is a Chasidic Rabbi. I have a few cousins who are also Rabbis. And a relative many generations back wrote a book on the Kaballah that is still studied by some scholars today. Unfortunately it is written in Hebrew, and since I don’t speak the language I’ll probably never have the opportunity to read it.



21. I have an unhealthy obsession with fonts, and can randomly identify fonts in magazines, movie titles, billboards, store signs. And my husband teases me about it, but secretly I think he’s in awe of my skills.



24. I love the Olive Garden despite growing up in Brooklyn and know what *real* Italian food tastes like. I can’t help it. And I look forward to the end of Passover every year because that means George will take me there for dinner … but its only because he feels so bad that I had to eat Matzoh for a week.

I haven't done mine yet on FB, but one would definitely be:

I sat on a beach in Wales after dancing all night...watched the last Solar Eclipse of the Millennium with a bunch of (beautiful) strangers.. 2 days later, I found out I was pregnant with my son.

6. I take pride in not having a Staten Island accent.

7. I have been to 30 weddings since my friends started to get married in 2002, and have several more coming up in the next couple of years.

10. I have absolutely no talents, and as much as my mother told me that being a good friend and a good student were talents, I fail to believe her.

I did mine recently on FB... here are some of mine (took me only a few minutes to write, I could have listed so many more things!):

1. I know all 50 states in alphabetical order (thanks to my elementary school music teacher... "50 Nifty United States...")

2. I hate roller coasters.

6. I was named after the song "Jessica" by the Allman Bros.

9. I've been wearing contact lenses for over 16 years. I'll never get lasik.

15. I have NEVER smoked a cigarette.

20. I know every single line to the movie "Bring It On", my favorite movie of all time!

23. I can type over 90 wpm.

10 It is ridiculously hard to buy presents for me.

11 I could use a stiff drink.

13 At what point am I supposed to take out my belly button ring? Can it be never? I don’t care how uncool it probably is to still have it.

15 Though I will be an author, I still love to dance more than I love to write.

16 Someone gave me a voodoo doll. I have used it on that someone. There were consequences. That person has no idea.

23 My mom still asks me what I’m going to be for Halloween - I like Halloween more than any adult has the right to.

24 I am fluent in Sarcasm. I keep forgetting that the whole world isn’t.

1. When I was in second grade I feel off an ottoman and broke my arm. A month later, I fell down a brick stairs and broke my nose.

4. I don't know how to drive.

8. I met my hubby in Starbucks.

14. My first concert was Billy Joel.

18. When my mom was in the hospital, I dressed her cabbage patch doll up & brought it for a visit.

19. Silence of the Lambs is one of my favorite movies.

1. I have ADHD and was diagnosed as a small child when it was hardly ever heard of.
2. My husband has made me believe is soul mates
4. I grew up in the same town my Dad did and our last name is even on the American legion in the town.
8. I rented a beach house on Fire island w/friends for 5 summers in a row
9. Those summers were the best summers of my life and I wouldn't change a thing!!!

20. We were about 2 weeks pregnant when we got married and had no idea. We figured it out on our honeymoon. Damien always says when "we" got married meaning him too :D

11. I love fried chicken cutlets dipped in applesauce and have gotten both my husband and daughter hooked on it, too.

14. I feared childbirth more than anything in the whole entire world and the day I was told I had to have a c-section, I almost jumped in the air with joy because being sliced open and a baby ripped from my mid-section was much more appealing to me than the alternative.

21. I have no religion and did not baptize my daughter, so my mother performed her own baptism over her sink one day when I wasn't around.

8. I am my Dad's clone (personality wise, and maybe some looks too. But I don't have a beard. yet.) In fact, my Mom and Rich just laugh and shake their heads when Dad and I say things in unison. My favorite is when I try to call him and get all annoyed that his phone is busy, but it's only busy because HE'S calling ME. LoL


16. I carry around a shade of lipstick that I would never wear. I use it solely to write "A+ PARKING" across the windshields of people that park like a*holes. Don't believe me? I have witnesses! I once got so mad that someone stole a parking spot that I was waiting for at Stony Brook - those spots were not easy to come by - so I drizzled clear nail polish all over the windshield of her paprika colored bitchmobile. Hah. I still chuckle about that one.


19. I've actually said, "CHEW LIKE YOU HAVE A SECRET!" out loud. People don't like that so much.


25. I skipped #23. Does that piss you off? I don't care! hahahaha....Happy Anniversary day!

6. I was the only paid mental health counselor to work at Ground Zero in the days following 9-11. I began as a volunteer and stayed there for 9 1/2 months until they closed the site down. Aside of childbirth and marriage, THE most amazing experience of my life. Completely life-changing and rewarding beyond anything I could have expected. I met the most inspiring people and made life-long friends.

10. I secretly wish that they would raise the age limit for American Idol try-outs but would probably wimp out on auditioning even if they did. I miss singing with the band.

21. Every time I begin to challenge and question why things in my life have gone in a particular direction, somehow or another I have gotten a sign that I am exactly where I was meant to be. Even if I don't agree at the time....I can look back with no regret and be completely content in my shoes. I may not know the plan, but I know there IS one.

1. When I met Matt I had no desire to get into a relationship with anyone but from that one day...my life has changed completely and I don't know where I'd be without him.

9. I hate the texture of bananas and everyone knows it.

12. I got run over by a car!! Yes....yes I did!

Wow that is kinda harsh! Retaliation like that sounds worse then the offense to me

4. i used to eat play dough A LOT when i was little

5. i truely love working with the mentally handicapped adult population... i feel like THEY teach ME something new everyday

6. i am a sucker for ALL the crazy/supid reality TV shows... and i have gotten tommy into some as well haha

7. i once witnessed someone fly off the back of a convertible in the jones beach parking lot... it was one of the scariest things ever... he did 2 back flips, landed on his head, cracked his head open and crushed his fingers... i can still see him holding up his hands and noting that all his fingernails were hanging off

8. i have never ever made my bed in the morning... and i dont plan on starting

9. my brother in law has pictures of me very very drunk throwing up in a toilet... one would think i would be really embaressed by this... however - i was so excited that he had so many pictures of it lol

10. as you can see by random fact #9 - i AM NOT easily embarassed - at all

11. i have seen every single episode of the original 90210.. all 10 seasons.

1) I stayed in 2 very horrible relationships because I thought I loved them/could change them…..I would not trade those experiences for anything because with out them I would never have appreciated my DH the way he deserves to be appreciated.

2) My Mom is my very best friend and an older, wiser version of who I want to be someday. Some of the best advice I have ever received is from her….when Joe and I had a fight about chores this is what she said to me”He may not clean the way you like, he may be a slob, and he may forget things but he loves you unconditionally and would rather die then hurt you, and at the end of the day being loved is more important then laundry.”

4) I LOVE Coca-Cola…I drink so much I swear my blood is caffeinated

7) I feel like a part of me is broken since the miscarriage in November, and I don’t think I can ever fix it or make it better.

20) I don’t love my job, but I know that I am good at it and that I make a difference so that makes it better.

23) Part of my OCD controls seasonal things. At the start of EVERY new season. Fall, winter, spring, summer I change out my plug-ins, candles, bedding, and bathroom to be seasonal. I can’t burn a pumpkin candle past Thanksgiving or it throws me off, or a rose candle before May will make me feel uneasy.
