Not TTC related- important day for us today(actually many things going on the last 2 weeks)
Today was an important day for us. Sorry its long just wanted to give you some background information…and then share/vent with whats going on in my life at this moment.
So, I have an 11 year old daughter from my previous relationship that did not work out. I tried to maintain a good relationship with her father for her sake, and even though we did not have a lot of problems he really was not very involved in our daughters life. When she was 2 years old, he re-married and at the beginning we tried getting both families together but again it just did not happen (no major reason) and he was less and less involved with his daughter. Now he has not seen her for about 5 years, and I just got married last year in October but I have been with DH for more than 8 years so he is with us since my daughter is 3 years old and has been like a father to her. DH wants to adopt her legally and we recently contacted her biologicl father with this request. After some thought, he understood why we are doing it and he agreed to do it. Today he signed the papers giving up parental rights and allowing my DH to adopt her, now our lawyer has to submit the adotion papers to the court. We are so happy about this and hope and expect the rest of the process to go smoothly. DH loves my daughter as his own and his mother calls her her granddaughter and is great to us too..I could not ask for more love to her from them. (DD knows we are doing the adoption, she does not know her bological father had to sign papers for this, but she is agreeable so that we can all have the same last name and be a family- (even though we are already a family)DH him self is adopted so he can appreciate this. Now we only hope to finish this process smoothly and of course we are TTC and a baby will be an additional blessing. This past two weeks have been so crazy…We live in a 2 br condo and just put an offer in a house this week, I also got laid off from my job in the city two weeks ago, luckily I found a job right away and will be starting next week and is in Long Island so my commute will be better. As you see there has been a lot going on (btw I’m on my 2ww period so all this going on has been very emotional and exhausting) I have had every symptom on the book but I tested today (at 11DPO I believe) with a BFN
If we do not get a BFP this month on to the next but MIL was so happy about the adoption that I was thinking how great it would be if I could also give her the news of a baby on the way this year once the adoption gets finalized.
