My IL's just put their dog to sleep last month - she was 13 as well and struggling with the same problems. They were both able to live nice long doggie lives!

I know how you feel. I had a huge golden lab/st bernard/? mix dog I rescued from the pound and had 14 years when he was suffering bladder cancer and arthritic hips where some days he couldn't get up....that was the hardest day of my life when the vet opened on 1/1/2000 to put him to sleep because he was suffering so. I cried for weeks. Many  My heart goes out to you and your family I'm so sorry you are going thru this pain right now
