With summer officially here and the weather heating up there’s lots of fun in the sun that you may want to look “hot” for. Add some summer sizzle to your look with some of the professionals’ sultry secrets:

Afternoon Delights: Barbeques and other outdoor daytime events.

The Look: Pretty and protected

Hot Hints: Apply a healthy amount of SPF lotion or gel (15 or higher) at least a half-hour before heading out. Experts suggest being generous with your application and encourage you to properly protect your entire body. Remember to also cover your ears and the back of your neck, and don’t forget to place some in your purse for reapplication in a few hours. Once you’re securely shielded from the sun, pat your eyes with a few drops of concealer. Also apply some around your nose and anywhere else your skin tone may require evening out. Keep makeup basic, simple and natural. Use mascara to enhance your eyes and clear lip balm (with SPF) to add sexy shine to your lips.

Oh Baby!: Showers and other “casual” indoor (afternoon) affairs.

The Look: Understated Beauty

Hot Hints: Give your skin a uniform look with foundation and concealer where needed. Experts suggest a double-duty foundation with SPF for added outdoor sun safety. Give your eyes added glow with a neutral shadow over the entire lid. Add several coats of mascara to lashes, and lightly dust cheeks with blusher. Polish off the look with a provocative but pretty pout. Choose colors that are “natural” but bring out your features and make lips look healthy and full.

Starry, Starry Nights: Evening events under the stars and summer sky.

The Look: Naturally “Glam”. Radiant skin and dramatic eyes.

Hot Hints: Much like your wardrobe, nighttime looks for elegant evening affairs call for more detail and drama. Get camera ready with foundation and concealer. Next, work on that “natural” glow with highlighting cream or bronzer. Include face, shoulders, shins, and, of course, your décolleté. Amplify your eyes with more dramatic shades, shadows and liners. Experts suggest a trial run before heading out to your special event, and always opt for waterproof and smudge-proof formulas. Give your face some balance with a hint of blush and shimmery, shinny lips.
