After a long day at the office, and after sitting for about an hour or so in traffic, I really have my sights set on some physical activity. But, once through the front door of my home, I can barely account for the time that has somehow seemingly flown by. In fact, it’s about “that” time for me to start thinking about, and making dinner. Then of course there’s the clean up (which dh does help with) and the getting breakfasts and lunches, and attire ready for the next day. By this time, I barely have the energy or desire to think about a heavy workout. In fact, the only thing I want to think about lifting is myself off the couch and into bed.

Still, the health fanatic in me knows and cries out for a way of working off those consumed calories. And, I’m likely not alone.

Well, whether you’ve just scarfed down a salad or devoured a burger and fries getting up and around is highly recommended. And, the more greasy and filling the food, the more important to move and groove after your meal.

But, as we all know, working out after a meal is a no-no. But, no all exercise is nixed.

According to health aficionados consider taking it to the streets. That’s right, studies show that walking is ideal for low-intensity fitness that still does your body good. In fact, those who walked for 45 minutes to two hours even after chowing down on fast food were able to maintain the same healthy heart function as those who enjoyed a fat-free feast but relaxed post repast.

So whether you take a trek indoors schlepping it across the mall, or making time for a romantic yet heart healthy nature walk, experts suggest, eat, drink and get moving.
