What a powerful moment it is...
to vote. Standing there in the booth and making that choice. The very choice that was denied to my ancestors in the country they lived because of their religion. It brings tears to my eyes to think that my ancestors risked everything to move the United States for this VERY reason - so that I, their great great great daughter, neice, etc., could stand in this very booth, with my daughter by my side, as I take the tiniest bit of power in my hands and push that little button declaring my vote. And to think, that just a few decades ago I wouldn't have had this opportunity to stand here with my daughter, just because we are women. Reflecting on all that, I realize, this day is a beautiful, inspiring and empowering day, and it reinvigorates my hope in this country and our future.
I hope each and every one of you take the time today to cast your vote.

How beautiful!!
I actually didn't vote this morning because I wanted to bring Jordana (DH drops her off in the morning and I pick her up). So Jordana will have her second voting experience by 7 months old. I am so excited to share it with her!

I LOVED bringing Alex with me. She was fascinated by the blinking lights I'm going to continue this tradition with her (hopefully) until she's 18, considering Daddy can't because he isn't yet a citizen, and won't be for some time

Re: What a powerful moment it is...
I use to not vote if it wasn't a major election like for a president or state senator. I got turned off by politics when I was younger: having to vote a certian way so I could have a job, attend meetings for a particular party just so I could possibly get a job, etc. Now I do research; I know who and what I'm voting for before I go in, whereas before, some of the minor elections (court judges, town clerks), I would just blindly vote party lines. Now, like many of you, I do see it as a way to get involved and even though it is my right, I also find it very important. Whether or not the candidate I voted won, I know I voted for the person that best reflected my views on the issues I feel are important. I wish more people went out to vote. Too many people feel that their vote won't count.

Wonderfully put Beth...voting is sooo important. And even living in a state that isn't a battleground one doesn't mean you should not exercise this right.

I remember they stopped letting me in the booth with my mom when I was 5 or 6! She still took me every year though, and I've gone every year since I have been legal.

Re: What a powerful moment it is...
I really loved your post. I get cynical sometimes about whether or not our votes even count (or are counted, for that matter). Your post was a nice reminder about what matters.
