Need Your Help Please

VENT !!! - I'm about ready to strangle the idiots @ Citimortgage - VERY simple question no one can seem to answer for me - I'm sure you guys will know !!

The Homeowner's Ins agent is requesting information re the "Mortgage Clause" -
I can't find any mention of this in preapproval paperwork - I even googled it ! - I work in Life Insurance so I'm kind of embarassed to admit I have NO clue what this is !
I called Citimortgage - 5 different people "have never heard of this ...."

Ok - SO, do I NEED the Insurance policy before my loan can be approved ? OR, is the loan approved first by underwriting , and THEN I get the policy b/c this 'mortgage clause' is only given after the approval is complete ????
You know the answer I get ???
"oh, I don't really know........"

Can you guys help me PLEASE ????
TIA !!! Chat Icon

Re: Need Your Help Please

It's technically part of the approval process but you need to have the insurance agent contact Citimortgage to get the specs so they can give you an insurance binder. It's a contingency of the mortgage to have the insurance in place. It's not a part of a pre-approval at all.

It's kind of chicken/egg but I'm surprised you can't find anyone to tell you about this.

Re: Need Your Help Please

Thanks !!!
I'm surprised too, and annoyed - I asked my "Loan officer" (what a joke that was) I asked the "Loan Processor" .......and then I went so far as to call the 800 number and speak to 4 different people !
I could NEVER get away with that type of response......."Um, I don't know" What IS that ???

Do you have an attorney?

He/she can explain it to you and explain it to your loan officer. Is it their first day on the job? Chat Icon
