Teachers/parents of school aged kids...come on in
Have you ever heard of an event planner being used to plan field trips for school? I received a permission slip for DC to go on a field trip to a museum and the cost is exorbitant for what it is. Then I noticed the permission slip is printed on a professional event planning company's letterhead. I think the cost of trip is so high because we are eating the cost of this "event planner". On top of paying a transaction fee for using their mandatory online payment system. To me, its egregious. Is this a thing now? Are teachers required to use these companies to plan field trips?

Wow! That does not sound good to me. My daughter hardly went on any field trips, and the few she did go on were not planned by a paid event planner. I would ask the school about it.

We don’t use event planners for field trips, they are planned by teachers. Field trips are expensive though because of transportation costs. My sons next one is $50 to go to some out of work mine. He didn’t want to go for some reason and was adamant about it so he’s skipping since it would’ve been $50 plus a huge fight lol

Transportation is what is making field trip costs become exorbitant in our district. Field trips are only planned by teachers where I live. My daughter’s 8th grade end of year trip was $200.

High School trips overseas trips that happen annually are planned through a tour company. But I haven't seen anything else planned by an "event planner". How much is it? How many nights? Our district doesn't do overnight field trips though (aside from that high school annual trip)

the only time I heard of using a planner was for multi day overnight trips. For a regular field trip that is an unnecessary cost. I would call the school as ask for the breakdown of costs. As others have said, transportation has gone up alot so that could also add to the increase.

This is a day trip to the city. I spoke with the organizer who cited the exorbitant cost for transportation and then said they used this event planning company (which really seems to be like a tour company) because the kids get VIP access to exhibits at the museum. But that still does not justify the cost of the trip ($155) so I think this company is being paid a premium to plan and execute it. On top of the cost of the trip, we are still to supply lunch, snacks and drinks!

I just paid the same price for a trip to a Broadway show and lunch at Applebees in Times Square, but they’re taking the train.
I hate these online payments though. The fees are ridiculous. Every little fundraiser, event, even their school lunch funds- I must pay $50 per kid easy in added fees bc of this.
