Anyone drinking tap water/filtered tap?

Here is an interesting situation, we just walked into this open house and we were chatting with realtor and I noticed the water on the fridge and I asked if they drink the water, both agents said they drink right out of tap.

I thought Long Island tap water was not OK to drink, at minimum it should be filtered. I was thinking of subscribing to water delivery service but it seems like most people still drink tap water.

Maybe I sound like a crazy person, but that's the idea we grew up with and my friends in Nassau usually got jugs delivered. Is suffolk water better than Nassau, and are there information on water quality of each district? I suppose it's exclusively well water that gets filtered and chlorinated by each town?

Re: Anyone drinking tap water/filtered tap?

My fridge water dispenser has a filter on it.
And we have a Brita pitcher as well.
Does your fridge make ice? That's tap water.
Most all modern refrigerators have filters for the water/ice dispensers.
I only use bottled water if we are going out.

You have no way of knowing what's in bottled water anyway. Not to mention what leeches in from the plastic bottles.

Bottled water is not regulated by anyone. There is no reason to think bottled water is better than tap that is actually regulated by EPA and other agencies.

Where do yoU think Poland spring comes from and how do you know ?

Filtered tap is probably best but most filters are really just marketing.

No. And I sure wouldn’t if I lived near or in Bethpage.

We use a ZeroWater filter. It’s amazing. It doesn’t get one thing (begins with a D, can’t think of it now) but gets most all else. I can tell the difference now immediately.

I’m now exploring a filter for the entire house. We also use filters for our shower heads.

You can also read the water reports for your town. It’s public info.

Re: Anyone drinking tap water/filtered tap?

We have a multipur water filter attached to our fridge from the basement and the fridge itself has a filter. So it’s double filtered (if that’s a thing) we used to have the multipur water spout at the sink (next to regular faucet but since renovating the kitchen we attached it straight to the fridge) the water is absolutely delicious. Zero taste and perfectly clear.

I wouldn’t drink the tap water here. I have tasted it obviously and it tastes like a backyard pool.

Growing up in Brooklyn, we drank from the tap all the time. That water also had no taste and was clear.

Our water tends to be very chlorinated too at times. So we definitely need the filters.
I also noticed my hair and skin was getting wrecked by the chlorine so we got a filter for the shower

Anyone drinking tap water/filtered tap?

Depends where you live. My parents live right outside of the Grumman Plume and only drink bottled water. My sister lives a 10 minute drive from them and drinks tap water.

I’m in Suffolk. We have a reverse osmosis water filter that has a spout at the sink and is also connected to our fridge. I can’t drink tap anymore. The taste is bad.

Probably 1,4 Dioxane.

And no; never drink tap water. We have an ionized water system which has a separate spout off our sink that we drink from.

Re: Anyone drinking tap water/filtered tap?

I considered filtered tap water to be tap water though.
I took this question to mean- does anyone drink tap water and/or filtered tap water.

Or do you only drink bottled water?

Seems like most drink filtered tap water

I didn't drink unfiltered tap water when I lived on LI. We had the filter on the fridge but generally drank bottled water.

We just have a Pur filter on our kitchen sink and nothing else. So ice is made with tap water.

We have a filter attached to our kitchen sink and so we drink that and use it for coffee, cooking, etc. I can't drink regular tap water anymore; it tastes weird to me.

I drink unfiltered tap water sometimes- I use it to fill my water bottle. I do have a pitcher with a filter in my fridge though. I find the tap water doesn't taste great unless it's very cold. I'm in Nassau.
