Did all of you see this video?
I am sure that there are many of us who say we don't blame him or would have done the same thing. Thank God he was only charged with contempt of court and nothing more serious. First, he asked the judge for 2 minutes alone in a locked room with the bas+ard, lol
When she said, "no sorry", he went in for the kill. Poor guy was INCHES away when the bailiffs stepped in.

Actually, it IS helping everyone if that father would have been able to knock his ******* teeth out. I couldn't imagine if it were my family members who were abused. I wish he would have gotten even one punch in.
It's ok though.. The prisoners will take real good care of him when he goes away.
Those court officers didn't want to have to subdue him. You could see it.

The only thing that really gets me is that so many of the victims say they told people - coaches, adults, their parents - and they were ignored. I guess it really does what people are willing to do to make their kids stars.

I saw an article about child actors that basically said once a parent has decided to cash in on their kid they will look the other way or not see a lot of things. I think it may have even been written by a former child actor.
I imagine a similar thing happens with child athletes. Especially when the parents have invested in this sport, they don't want to rock the boat or potentially derail the kid's career/money.
I'm sure this isn't true of all parents, but probably of many. Frequently the parents have given up their careers to travel with these kids, so they don't want to throw it away.

I have a hard time that people really think that literally hundreds of parents just sold out there children to make them stars. Really? I'm not saying it never happens but literally hundreds and hundreds of parents? All but a very small handful that did raise concern. I just can't see that being the case.
This guy was a master manipulator. Everyone said he was so nice, so kind, amazing doctor, etc. I think he knew how you talk his way out of anything. I do blame the college and other authorities (police departments, usa gymnastics, etc) that didn't pull him away from practicing immediately while there was even a question. I read an article about a 24yo woman who went to the college after she claimed assaulted her. There was an investigation and the college believed he was doing valid medical procedures but didn't communicate well with her. Except they didn't even mention the last part to the poor woman so she doubted herself all the while knowing it was wrong.
Now he even has his own attorney (a young female) doubting he's guilty of avoiding all these women. Whatever magic spell he casts on everyone he meets is mind boggling. The whole situation is really.

I agree with this. There were too many people that could have done something that didn't, but I really doubt the parents (for the most part) would have willingly allowed their children to continue to be abused if they really knew what was going on. Just like the girls who reported this, I am sure any parent that raised a concern was manipulated and told about the need for these "treatments" just the way the girls were.

Idk have you been around these parents who want their kids to be famous? I’ve seen it firsthand, I’m not saying it was every parent but come on. I will still stand behind that the majority of these parents did not protect their kids and turned a blind eye or should get slapped for being so dumb. I explained my experiences already.
The things that these kids told the adults and no one believe them. Manipulation my ass. I’ll say it again and again, idc how old my kid is if they are saying the slightest thing that sounds questionable then it’s a problem and needs to be looked at.
I also don’t care what the rules are my kid is not staying in a hotel by themselves and I’m not letting a doctor see them privately in a flucking hotel room. That’s the policy then I guess my kid won’t be an Olympic gold medalist. How do you explain that logic?

I'll explain that logic. Too many people are just plain old stupid. They trust anyone who is a "Dr.", they want their kid to be the best at (Insert whatever sport here) and don't want their kid to be left out or be made fun of by other kids for not being able to stay with the other kids. These are the same parents who side eye the "helicopter moms" and talk shit about them.
My niece has been a figure skater most of her life. She goes to compete in Lake Placid all the time. When they go, The entire FAMILY goes. Not just her with the girls, or "mom, just come the day of the comp, no need to be there the other days" Yea right. My brother and sister inlaw take off of work and go with her. No coach, Dr., janitor, IDGAF who will go near my niece - especially with my brother sitting right there every second.
Plus - it's probably not a popular opinion.. But we have warned the children in our family of predators as soon as they were old enough tot take the bus to school. And by we, I mean we. Their aunts, uncles, cousins. My sister would ask me any type of scenario about strangers/predators in front of my nephew and he'd hear exactly what she was telling him from another person.

It wasn't a gymnastics situation.
The molester talked his way out of it. Saying the victim was making up stories because of this because of that. The wife believed the husband. And the family stayed intact.
For about another year or so when more victims spoke up. After that he was arrested.

A lot of these were college students if I understand correctly. Obviously there parents weren't going to be with them. The story about was a 24yo. Many of those underage were with them at the time. I don't understand how he got away with this as long as he did but I don't think there's a simple answer.
I did think most people need to talk to their children a lot more than they do. Myself included. We need to tackle the problem from every possible angle.

Oh sorry. I meant just molestors in general and how they manipulate.
ETS: sorry originally I was talking about 1 of the gymnast. The one that went to the police and they believed Nassar instead. Brianne Randall. Im not sure if she stayed on or not.

Edited again: Brianne wasnt a gymnast. She was referred to him dur to back injuries from soccer and tennis. But I dont believe she went back to see him.

Exactly - the manipulation of child stars is nothing new, just think of the abuses that go on in Hollywood? Not everyone is thinking of the children’s best interests, sadly. Not saying all these parents are complicit in this instance, but I am sure some of them were told things and either didn’t believe it or justified it.
