NYC during the holidays

Has anyone NOT gone into NYC this holiday season purely because they were nervous of a terrorist attack?

I know a lot of you on here work in Manhattan etc so you have no choice.

I KNOW you cannot be scared of these things and you cannot let it rule your lie etc.

I KNOW you can get run over by a bus and die that way etc etc.

I know all the ins and outs but just curious if anyone stayed home from NYC this holiday season purely based on threats to the city etc.

TIA

No, I stayed away because of tourists not terrorists. There's too many of them and they ruin the city. I don't like crowds.

This.

We live in eastern queens and even my DDs have no desire to go into manhattan especially this week because of tourists

I offered to take them to see tree and bryant park and they said no

We went to a bway show (just me and DD2 for her bday) and walked right past macys and she wasnt even interested in checking out the windows!

No, I actually went to NYC two separate times this Christmas season, which I haven't done in years, so that was huge for me! I'll admit, I thought about something happening, But unfortunately, there is really nothing you can do about it.

Nope. We actually went into the city to see the tree and I honestly didn't give it a second thought.

Absolutely not. I feel safer in the city than I do in a parking lot on LI. Actually, I feel safer in the city than I do in most places.

No I stayed away because of the crowds and my general impatience for society in general.

Also I have to admit I don't get the thrill. You fight your way through massive crowds to look at a big tree. And after 5 min....then what? I find all of it very anti climatic and quite frankly boring.
The windows/decorations do nothing for me either and I used to go to the Radio City show all the time and found it a huge bore. Especially for what they charge....I'd rather see a real Broadway show.

I love nyc...just not in December

Can't deal with the crowds of people who have no clue where they are going.

Staying away this week due to tourists and weather.

Was on the fence about going in with the kids if it was warmer... But, it's freezing.

I did bring the kids in earlier in December.

This. I teach in Midtown and live in Queens. I have done everything I can to avoid a subway and anything west of Forest Hills.

Oddly enough, no. I didn't even think about it. I actually went into the city twice this holiday season after having not gone for a couple of years and I'm going again tomorrow. I will say I did notice a very controlled, heavily police patrolled Rockefeller Center.

NYC during the holidays

We just spent last night in the city to see the show and tree etc. we just stayed on high alert. Police presence was definitely there, not sure if that's due to them preparing for New Year's Eve but it didn't deter me.

Agree, I do NOT get the hype over seeing the tree or the Radio City Show.
