How many to transfer

I had to hold off on my transfer because I overstimulated during IVF. Now it is time to do my frozen embryo transfer. My husband and I were expecting to transfer 2 but my Dr is highly against it because of the chance of twins. He said they could have life long issues if born prematurely. I was so set on transfering two but after hearing those words I am rethinking this.

Any thoughts???

It depends on your situation. Give some more info. Have you transferred before? How many do you have frozen? What are their grades? What is your diagnosis? I've a;ways transferred two because I was okay with twins.

I transferred two every single time. Well, 7 transfers, 5 pregnancies later (2 chemical, 1 miscarriage and 2 births) I have 3 kids. My last transfer was twins. Any baby single double or triple can have "issues" born prematurely. I would do it again the same way.

Any baby can have issues if born as a preemie. Twins are not as high risk at it used to be. It’s like no big deal having twins anymore. I was one of several moms having twins when my kids were born. I was oblivious. I was like oh I have twins. The nurse said yes there’s quite a few here.Chat Icon

That said we were ok with twins. Transferred 2. I have two wild almost 6 year olds now (and a surprise 3rd child who is 4).Chat Icon

Under 35 and first transfer a lot of REs would recommend one. For my first transfer my RE recommended 1 but I opted for two. See how the quality is and decide from there. If you have a real high quality embryo maybe transferring 1 makes sense. If they are good or fair maybe 2.

How many to transfer

Depends on quality.

I was under 35 and dealing with male IF.

Round 1 - 2 poor quality day 5 embryos - BFN
Round 2 - 3 fair day 3 embryos - BFN
Round 3 - 2, day 5 embryos - 1 excellent, 1 good - BFP singleton

How many to transfer

Its not only about the health of the babies but your own health...I have high BP so its risky for me to have twins...twins puts more strain on your body so that should also be a factor...I have transferred 2 and SET and have only gotten pregnant with 1...I think the preference is to do SET depending on the age of the patient and the quality of the embryos

How many to transfer

My first IVF I was told the same thing under 35 and because it was Male Factor they said to transfer 1 at a time. When the first transfer was unsuccessful I decided to transfer 2 the next which was a frozen transfer. That was also unsuccessful. My third transfer also frozen I transferred 2 and have twins. Like other people have said any birth can be premature.

My second IVF I did a freeze all cycle and then only transferred 1 at a time because I did not want twins again. The third transfer was successful.
