Greenlawn/Harborfields feedback

We are considering a move from Queens and Greenlawn/Harborfields seems to fit what we are looking for regarding larger property and good schools but not too far east for us.

Is anyone from that area that has feedback on the middle and high school and also how the community vibe is there? Do most kids walk home form the bus , community events, general safely ect...

Also are there any areas that are better then others regarding traffic, low water table, more desirable ect..

Thx!

Greenlawn/Harborfields feedback

Harborfields is a nationally rank school (High School).
Moving to a house in this district has change my life in a positive way.
Probably would of had a similar experience in other towns we were looking but soo glad it was this town.

My niece in 8th grade stop is across the street from her house so really can't comment on walking from bus. I think its common as I see the middle school but pickup and the kids walk on home.

Just south of 25A closer to Park, my sister had to dig deep as they had water problems. There are many areas to living in Harborfields SD. You have Huntington, Greenlawn, Centerport and Huntington Bay to consider. You have great range of property prices. Price may factor which one of this towns you live in. Make sure you verify your block/school district as this district boarders S. Huntington, Huntington and Elwood.

You have a strong community IMO. Parents are super involved in school events/sports/PTA. This is the second year in a row I got jealous of The Longest Table dinner at Harborfields Library. 1st year i didn't know about it. Second year, we never signed up :( There are a good amount of shops/resturants in greenlawn and Huntington and thats before hitting the Village.

Traffic going south on Broadway before Jericho around 5ish can be a drag (i see this going home everyday). There are ways around this.

You have 2 good train stations to pick from. Huntington is a line on LIRR. Parks are great and there is plenty to do. Let me know if you have specific questions. Be happy to answer.

There is a small part of Huntington, right next to Huntington Bay that is Harborfields - but, it's technically not Huntington Bay, it's Huntington but, often gets confused for Huntington Bay.

I'm in this district and I'm really happy. We did live in Greenlawn and just moved to a part of Huntington that is part of HF district. Both neighborhoods have been great. My DD1 is in the elementary school and loves it. As pp said, the parents are very involved and there is a real sense of community, especially for a district that is made up of parts of three different hamlets (Greenlawn, Centerport, and Huntington). Greenlawn also has a great civics association that puts together many events, which helps create a small town feel. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.
