Female or male dr for colonoscopy
I have to have one done. Did you opt to see a female dr for this or a male? I'm having anxiety about the whole thing. The female dr my primary gave me has a horrible lawsuit against her while doing a colonoscopy, so I am not going by that recommendation. I am searching online.

I went to my gastro, and he's a male. It's honestly not a big deal, I was nervous too before I had it done.

I used to worry about male vs female doctors for stuff like this.
And then I gave birth.
And my male doctor saw parts and sides of me that no man or woman ever has or ever will. All while I was screaming in his face to please put his hand up there and TAKE HER OUT!!!
So I got over it real fast!

I tend to prefer male MDs. In the end it wouldn't matter. PM if you want a few names.

I only see male doctors, my mother was misdiagnosed many years ago by a female doctor and ever since then I won't go to a female doctor.

I honestly don't care so long as they are a good doctor. Also, I have to tell you, that many awesome doctors get sued. I'm a malpractice attorney and I have worked with incredibly smart and caring physicians who were named in a suit. Unless you know the facts and circumstances of the situation, I would not judge a doctor based on a lawsuit. I mean, if the doctor has 25 lawsuits, that's a different story but most doctors, with the exception of a few specialties, will get sued at least once in their career.

Yeah I was going to say- there are plenty of male doctors who have misdiagnosed patients and have had malpractice suits against them too.
I don't think the sex of the doctor matters - there are good and bad doctors of all sexes, all races, all ages.

im 29 and have had 3 colonoscopies- 2 by a man, 1 by a woman. youre knocked out anyway, ive never thought about being uncomfortable or weird. i would just go to a dr you trust.

I gave up the woman only gynecologist dr situation when I did fertility treatment and went with the best and saw male doctors, so I am over that, or so I thought, but somehow surprisingly started having anxiety about seeing a male for this.

I can understand how that experience can cause anxiety. Stick with a male MD to take that part of the worry out of the equation

Either male or female, I don't even get why this is an issue? I had one done years ago and saw a male MD. You are unconscious, so I don't really care. My mom is a GI nurse and she said they cover you up with a sheet anyway, so no one sees your butt. Nor would they care, they see 20 people a day!

I had a man do mine. Didn't bother me in the LEAST.
But I do have a female GYN. I just could not go to a man.
