Tubal Ligation
I was talking with my doctor about birth control. I am 41 with 2 boys and done. LOL I don't plan on having anymore children. I had a c-section with both boys. We spoke about Mirena, essure and tubal ligation. He said Mirena may be a little uncomfortable placing in bc I had a c, but it may not. Right now I have regular periods. I don't want anything with hormones. He also suggested tubal ligation. He said it's now done in the office laproscopic.
Thoughts? My other concern is insurance not covering. WE have Amerihealth through Obamacare since DH owns his own business. We have a very high deductible too.
Anyone know how much it would cost too? Thanks!
ETA - what is your period like after?

Tubal Ligation
I am not sure the cost, but I am sure you can call the insurance company to get an idea or whoever handles insurance for your doctors office.
I had it done while I had my c-section. I have the same periods but they seem to last a little longer.

Thank you. I found out it's fully covered so that's good news. The Dr does it in the office.

Tubal Ligation
I haven't had a tubal but I have mirena and had a c-section and it hurt significantly less than I thought it would. It really wasn't bad at all.
But if you know you're done, I'd just get the tubal.

Re: Tubal Ligation
I would have DH have the surgery. Much easier recovery (if I were having a c-section and they were in there already I'd do the tubal)

Re: Tubal Ligation
Thanks all. After speaking with the doctor and doing some research I am going to go ahead with it. Doc said it's in the office and a half hour procedure. They do it laparoscopic.
They say recovery isn't bad at all. Maybe some cramping the next day, but fine after a day or so. I'm 41 with two kids and a dog. Perfectly happy being 100% done and not to have to worry about anything. Glad it's covered too.

Tubal Ligation
Had it done a couple of years ago. Very easy recovery for a surgery. Incision in my belly button and the other on my scar from my c-section. I never regretted it.

Is this the Essure procedure or a tubal ligation? I know Essure is done in the doctors office but I never heard of having your tubes tied in the office.

I was wondering this too. I want to get it done but thought it was a hospital procedure with an overnight stay.
