What would you choose?

So four years later and we still have paper shades all over the house (best $60 bucks I ever spent lol) We have a split with an extension in the back off the kitchen and dining room ; it's one room. It has a bank of two double casements , a seven foot gap and another double casement along the backyard wall, and a sliding door with another double casement on the other wall right next to it.

On the slider I'm eventually going to get a curtain rod and hang a curtain.

For the windows, originally I wanted faux wood blinds because I want to be able to see the backyard (kids playing etc) but I feel that would look cold and I don't really want valences.

Then I thought about doing curtains. The four windows have a couch in front of them. The other two windows are by our kitchen table and both are next to the sliding door. The slider and the other two windows are on the same wall so I'm thinking that curtains on a slider and curtains on the windows that are each pretty close to the slider would be overkill

Sigh

Do you guys think Roman blinds would look nice? Are they that much more expensive? Like borderline unattainable?

I know I will have somewhat of an obstructed view outside but I gotta do something.

Any other suggestions? I don't think I love the look of those honeycomb ones but maybe if they're significantly cheaper than romans, I'd consider them....

I hate making such permanent decisions

I have cellular shades on my kitchen, living room, dining room and den windows. I love them because they let the light filter in and give the privacy that you need. We ordered ours from Blindschalet.com. They were really affordable. We priced out a bunch of places. If you or are DH can hang them - then I would order online.

I had a split with an extension off the kitchen and dining room. I hung bamboo roman shades on all of the windows. For the slider, I hung simple cream-colored panels on each side. I uploaded a pic to "House" album (not the New House album) of the shades but I do not have a pic of the slider. Sorry the pic is sideways and I couldn't post pic here. I purchased all of the shades from Overstock. They weren't expensive imo; I paid under $50 per shade. Just be aware that, while they beautifully filter the light, they do not provide much in the way of privacy at night. I didn't have an issue with that because I backed on a preserve.
