Storm Doors?
Are they obsolete? I feel like just a plain exterior door LOOKS so much nicer but I wonder about insulation and weather.

Re: Storm Doors?
I want to replace our front door and I feel the same way about storm doors. I like the look without the storm door but I don't think I can go without one. I like to open the front door and let the sun in.

Storm Doors?
We currently have just a front door. I want a storm door. I don't think they are obsolete at all.

Re: Storm Doors?
Love having a storm door. If I'm home, the front door is open letting the sun in through the storm door. Also, it's another layer of protection since it has a lock on it.

This too. I can open the door to someone without having them in my house.

Storm Doors?
I love my storm door and would not even consider not having one, regardless of what others think. I would like to replace it with a full view door though.

Re: Storm Doors?
I just redid my siding and removed my old storm door int the process. I lasted one week before I had a new one installed. I missed having ability to leave the front door open and like the little extra security.

Re: Storm Doors?
We have 3 exterior doors (not counting the basement doors). The fancy double-doors in front don't have storm doors, but the two side doors both do. I like having them on the side doors. To have a storm door on the front double-doors, I'd have to have a center section for the storm door to latch into, which would totally destroy the look and function of the front doors.

Re: Storm Doors?
We have a storm door and I love keeping the door open with the sun shining through the storm door. Usually if I'm expecting visitors I'll leave the door open (storm door closed) so they can come right in.

Same. We just got a new door and a new storm door. I don't LOVE the look but we got the full glass with the half screen that can be pulled down. I love having the sun shine through and a cool breeze. Something I just couldn't give up.

Re: Storm Doors?
My storm door is full glass so it doesn't obscure the front door. And in the spring we put in a full screen.
It's fine.
I think it looks off without it to be honest. And you open your front door and BAM you're outside. And your pets are running out, and the bugs are flying in

Definitely essential! You need some kind of barrier before people are directly in your house when you open the door!
