Teacher Appreciation gifts - for daycare
Next week is teacher appreciation week. DD has 2 main teachers in her room, but then about 2 - 3 "floaters" who are in the room with her throughout the day. You never know which floaters are going to be assigned to her room, so it varies by day.
Do I just give the 2 main teachers gifts? Or should I also get a little something for the floaters as well?

Teacher Appreciation gifts - for daycare
We have that next week too. I was going to get gifts for everyone and something bigger for her main and asst teachers but then they put out a sign up sheet for breakfast/lunch. DH signed us up for lunch so I'm not sure about buying gifts now that I have to cater lunch for 25 people!

You have to do lunch all on your own? I would assume multiple families are contributing to each meal.

Nope. All on our own. I thought it was a little much, too and I feel I'm very generous when it comes to gifts for her teachers. To be fair, we could have picked something else, though they are in fact getting lunch each day so 4 other families are also doing it.

Am I horrible if I don't do gifts for teacher appreciation day? I give gifts at Christmas, Valentines day and when he changes rooms. We also contribute food for every holiday party they have.

Ummm no. I adore my DD's teacher but honestly I don't need to shower her with gifts all year long. She gets a Xmas gift and end of the year--that's it.

Teacher Appreciation gifts - for daycare
On a day that is specifically about teacher appreciation I think a small something is appreciated even if you do things at other occasions. My boss doesn't do squat to acknowledge adminstrative professionals day and i think it's pretty shi*ty. The daycare teachers watch my most precious gifts, my children. They spend as much time with them as I do, sometimes maybe more. As long as they take great care of them I am happy to over gift.

I see what you're saying and I agree but it does add up. An extra $100 this month on gifts for his 4 teachers is a hit to our budget, considering what we already pay monthly. If he had one teacher, it would be different. What are you giving? I like to do gift cards because that's what I would want if I were a teacher. I wouldn't want soaps, lotions or other things that just take up space.

Re: Teacher Appreciation gifts - for daycare
I agree that it totally adds up. I have 2 head teacher and 2 assistant teachers. Im doing cash this time around bc one of my daughters teacher is very restricted on what she can eat and wear due to an allergy she has so cash was just easier I always include a note that tells them to treat themselves to something they enjoy when I do money.
In the past I have done Dunkin donuts gcs, Target gift cards, a small plant, chocolates, wine or cash. I think even a five or ten dollar gift card is nice.
You Definitely don't have to spend a lot. I think they are shocked when they get anything and I agree lotions, soap, random odds and ends are not even worth it.

I don't think I ever gave. When is enough enough? I paid a mortgage payment every single month for PART time daycare. She only went 3 days a week. I gave a very generous gift at Christmas. If she was changing rooms at year end I did another very generous gift. Now it's teacher appreciation. Come on. I don't recall having teacher appreciation week when I was in school. When is it IT manager appreciation week? Because I never ever get any appreciation or gifts that is for sure

No I dont this so. I give for XMas and Teacher Appreciation, but only because my DD attends year-round, so there's no end of the year for her. Otherwise, I would only give for Xmas and year end.

Re: Teacher Appreciation gifts - for daycare
last year, DD had 4 teachers and about 6 floaters, based on the room she was in. it was the first time I knew of teacher appreciation week.
we got everyone socks (who cant use socks) with M&M characters on them along with 2 packs of M&Ms. the little card/sign in the bag said "M&M - Much and Many thanks for all you do. we really appreciate you!"
found the idea on pinterest.
just saying I think it's more about the thought that counts (maybe a plant or flowers) than anything else.
this year DD only has 2 teachers which have done SO MUCH this year, so we are definitely doing more this time around. probably spend about $25 on each (also do Christmas gifts and changing room gifts). I think there are only a few floaters, so we might do something small again - plant maybe?
