When did you tell your parents?

I just found out I'm pregnant for the 1st time and I'm about 5 weeks. My first midwife appointment isn't until 8 weeks... I'm thinking of waiting until after then to tell my parents and in-laws but it's so hard! DH and I also live with my sister and her boyfriend and they are constantly asking us to have drinks or go indoor rock climbing (which I should probably stop now that I'm pregnant lol).... So it's hard to make excuses.

Re: When did you tell your parents?

I always intend to wait, but my hormones get the best of me and I end up telling my parents early on. It's nice to have their support. I've waited more towards the end of the first trimester to tell DH's parents.

We told my parents/siblings at 8 weeks and my in-laws at 9 weeks when we saw them. We waited till after our 12 week soon to tell extended family and friends.

Right away. I would have felt weird not telling my mom, especially since it's not like I would have kept a loss from her.

ETA- The more I think about it, I can see waiting to tell parents because many (mine included) seem to think it's their news to share and have a hard time not keeping it to themselves.

When did you tell your parents?

My parents are gone but my mil was told very shortly after we found out. She can keep her mouth shut. My best friends knew very early on. I had a lot of issues in the beginning so I told who I would lean on for support.

Re: When did you tell your parents?

This is my third pregnancy, and we've told our parents pretty early on all three times. I get really sick, so it's hard to hide that. I told around 7 weeks in the past. We just told our parents about this baby at 8.5 weeks. They have strict orders not to tell anyone else yet.

The day I took a test. My mom and I are two peas in a pod. I tell her everything there would be no way for me to hide it.

When did you tell your parents?

We did IVF. My dad and sisters were with me when I got the beta call at 4 weeks. I told my mom that day. We told my inlaws the following week when we saw them.

Re: When did you tell your parents?

End of the first trimester every time... around 13-14 weeks I think it was. I felt no urgency to tell them. But also didn't want them to be offended if we waited too long so we figured that was a good time. By then we'd gotten the nt scan (& nipt blood results for 2nd & 3rd babies) back also. My in-laws live a few hours away so we just scheduled a visit for around that time.

I told my parents right away because I would want their support if I was having a miscarriage. Dh s parents we didn't tell until end of first trimester because I would not want them to know if I had a miscarriage they would tell the whole world and I could not emotionally deal with that.

I told my parents with DS within a few minutes of the dr calling to tell me I was pg. With DD, I told them within hours of taking the hpt.

Re: When did you tell your parents?

At 8 weeks, after the first sonogram. I had to tell my sister earlier since it was my brother's 21st birthday and I needed her to run interference on my mom who knew I was desperately trying.

When did you tell your parents?

We told our parents and siblings immediately after the positive pregnancy test. Our families drink too much wine to hide it, and if there was a miscarriage, I'd tell them anyway.

We told close friends and family after the 8 week appointment, but still tried to limit to people who I'd have no problem communicating with about a miscarriage if something happened.

Then after 12 weeks it was pretty much open knowledge.

When did you tell your parents?

We told our immediate family at the 6 week mark for first baby and the 8 week mark for second. We told extended families way after that and announced on social media at around 17 weeks.

Re: When did you tell your parents?

I waited until after my first appointment the first time around. The second time, I told them before but my first appointment wasn't until 10 weeks then and by that point I already had a bit of a bump.

14 weeks for both pregnancies. We went through IVF to get pg so wanted to make sure it was a healthy pregnancy before everyone knew.

Re: When did you tell your parents?

I was visiting my mom after a scary hospital stay (hers) when my test came back positive. I told her right away. Though it was likely obvious anyhow. I departed her bathroom bawling happy tears. We both needed the happy news. : )

we told our parents & siblings right away. we called them after i told my husband. we didn't tell anyone else until we were 12-14 weeks and didnt let "social media" know until almost 30 weeks. we had a loss with our first pregnancy and our family was extremely supportive & i knew if god forbid wehad another loss i'd need to lean on them again.
