Thoughts on what happened at Hamilton?
Interestingly enough, while I know many are applauding the actors actions, I saw an article about an old tweet of his in which he basically encouraged black men to take advantage of drunk white girls. Thoughts?

I saw a video of what was said. I'm not sure if it was the whole thing but from what I saw I don't think it was as terrible as how the media is portraying it. He's to be our VP and I think he should be expected to listen to what concerns the people of the US have right now especially with all the controversy going on. If Trump and Pence can't handle being called out like that then we as a country will have major issues over the next four years.

Pence has came out and said he was NOT offended, thought the show was great, and the cheering/booing at the end was an expression of freedom.

I don't think they did anything wrong. The audience booed Pence, not the actors. The statement that was read was written approved by the producers. It was not a private performance and he was in no way scolded or harassed. They pleaded with him to consider the diverse America he now represents. Pence said he wasn't offended, Trump has made this into a bigger deal to distract from the Trump U settlement.

Pence wasnt offended but took almost 2 days to comment AFTER Trump tweeted how he thought it was wrong
Bring unnecessary attention to these guys but as i mentioned in another thread draws attention away from serious matters
Trump and team need to get used to this people are angry, they are outraged at what this administration IS
Boycotting the show is silly since the show is sold out until 2018?!
Hypocritical that his supporters are calling the protestors "whiners" when he whines too!
Editing to say at least Pence's response, even if late, was more diplomatic and leader-like. I think supporters are going to have trouble keeping up when these guys are saying different things. If I was a supporter I would be pissed at the Trump Insanity!

Exactly.
My honest impression was that he was saying the girls are drunk and will put out. Rape?? I'm at a loss how you get that from this statement. Isn't this just "locker room talk" anyway? 
Besides, what does this have to do with his statement to Pence?

This also conveniently kept the story of the settlement of the Trump University case on the back burner.
Also, if anyone participating in #BoycottHamilton would like to offload their tickets, I would be HAPPY to take them. The show is sold out through next November.

I applaud the cast for making a statement. Most of the cast falls into one or more groups that he or his running mate have acted against or are planning to act against in some way.

Totally meant to distract, along with his tweet about SNL being biased and not giving him 'equal time.' Um, it's not a news show.
I saw nothing wrong with the Hamilton actor's statement. I feel he made a point which needed to be made, especially in light of the hate crimes being carried about all over the place. Trump is oddly silent about those but behaves like a baby- meanwhile- he was not the one who was booed. The whole 'safe space' thing made me   .
Meanwhile I am very troubled by some of these cabinet picks and their views and connections, and the fact that Ivanka sat in on that meeting with the Japanese PM, along with the fact that Trump has been taking calls on his unsecured phone. There is an awful lot going on which he called Hillary out for.

He is encouraging BLACK men to hit on white girls, who may be easier to score with since drunk. Rape can be equated the same way in this case, as it was to insinuated when Trump said about grabbing women (not even drunk) by the pu$$y. He is implying drunk white women will be easier to have sex with (and for BLACK men). That is not ok by any means. See if any white guy tweeted that about black women. Everyone would be up in arms. Really nice guy who wants equality there. He must be a real class act himself.

You're right,she didn't. It was the article where I was able to find the quote that said rape. Even still, black men and white women getting together should not imply someone is taken advantage of.

My thoughts are this actor is the pot calling the kettle black. He wants equality for all and will call Pence out on it (which is not his job during his play and was not appropriate in my opinion). But clearly he is full of it, since he encourages black men to seek out white women because they are drunk on a holiday. Glad someone caught that hypocrisy of his.

Some people are way over-interpreting this.
ETA- it's also interesting that people are making assumptions about this guy's character based on ONE tweet. If that was the case, Trump would have been out of the running right away.

I will admit I think what he said was probably in poor taste.
However, I cannot take anyone seriously who gets up in arms over this - an insensitive old tweet from someone who sent an important message to the VP - but does not get upset over the things Trump does.

I'm sorry but I'm having trouble following you. However, I will add I think that if a white guy said it about white women, no one would bat an eye. Bats are packed on st. Patty's day with guys and girls looking to hook up. No one needs to take advantage of anyone (not dating it doesn't happen but I still don't see assuming he is implying that.

It's common knowledge that drunk people do not make the same decisions as sober people. The actor would not be tweeting that about St. Patty's day if it were not related to being drunk and making lax choices. It's a day infamous for partying, drinking and being drunk if you are Irish and/or white.
