You know the show is so fake, right? They find a couple who has already moved in to the house or apartment in the last couple of years. They figure out a storyline beforehand. Then you go to three places. Movers come in and take your stuff out of your place while you "pretend" to view the place. It takes about 4 days total (in the old city and new; you have to pay for travel to the old city). I was in the process of being picked, but they weren't happy with the way we were on camera Chat Icon . And you don't get much money, either.
What? Are you serious?? So disappointed and 
So how does it work? Do they pay you for being on the fake show?

So how does it work? Do they pay you for being on the fake show?
You get $1,000 + or so (I forget the exact number) to be on the show.
You apply and send in pics. Then, if you are lucky, someone contacts you. They try to find out what were tough things in the move from each person in the couple. You talk to the person who is in charge of your story line and he/she interviews you and tells you that they need a video from you and all other logistics. We needed permission from our landlords that it was OK to film. They get all this info and then they can start shooting the episode. All of the episodes that you see are people who have already moved in to the apartment. It's shot within 4-5 days.
ETA: The people on the show have moved to the new location. But it was within 0-2 years. It isn't like they are moving and filming at the same time, if that makes any sense. If you go back and watch episodes, you can see the above format in every show- conflict between partner, old place, 3 new places to choose from, and update. It's all shot in 4-5 days.
