He will appoint an extremely conservative Supreme Court judge and all of the progress that has been made for a woman's right to choose, LGBTQ rights, etc, will vanish.
ETA: it's not just about what will happen during their term - it's what they will be leaving behind. SC justices are lifetime appointments.
Is there someone they are saying he has in mind for This position? Just curious because I'm not so sure (based on my limited knowledge on him) he's that conservative
Republicans, by nature, tend to be conservative. I would be very surprised if he appointed someone who was not.
I agree and his choice of uber-conservative Mike Pence as VP makes it more likely.
I felt his choice for pence was to appease the Republican Party bc as we know, they didn't want him as nominee
I agree, but regardless of his reason for picking Pence, he still did. Mike Pence is extremely conservative, and he's also an idiot (he's said before that smoking doesn't cause cancer).
Trump has said in speeches that he would appoint conservative judges.
Ok. That's what I was asking. Whether he actually stated it or it's just the assumption
Yup. Honestly, I don't love HRC, and don't know how much will change under her. So for me, I am voting more against the changes that would almost certainly occur under Trump than those that would occur under her (though I think there is much more of a chance of things like parental leave, equal pay, etc etc etc under her).
This is probably how I will make my decision as well. I'll take 4 years of the same over 4 years of "this may not be a good idea" and hope to hell for Better options next election Tho - 4 more years of the same for my family (small business owners in LI Ny) may be really hard to stay afloat. It sucks so bad that this is such a "fingers crossed" election God help us all - either way
As a small business owner, be disheartened that after 9/11, Trump collected $150,000 in federal funds that were intended to help small businesses recover, even though he said himself in the days after that his business was not affected.

Plain and simple. Trump is a businessman, and a good one at that. He's mastered the art of deal making. Regardless of what he claims he will do, if it's not a good deal for him, he's not going to do it. Being a good businessman and being a good leader aren't the same thing. The US isn't one big business; we're real people with real feelings, and we shouldn't be run like a corporation. Clinton has a strong relationship with Congress. They may not always support her proposed programs, but I think she knows the right people to get certain laws and programs passed without the system imploding on itself. Simply stated, Trump doesn't have a relationship with Congress, and he's pissed off too many people.
Remember, they're doing things on the federal level. If you hate something that is more local, hit up your congressman.
The problem is, he SAYS he's a good businessman, but if you actually look at what's been published about him, he's a terrible businessman (how does a casino go bankrupt? I thought those things almost printed their own money!) Many impartial financial experts put his net worth at around $250 million. Considering he inherited $400 million from his dad, that's beyond terrible.
He's not a good negotiator. His ghostwriter for Art of the Deal got half of the upfront money, and half of all residuals. That's unheard of! Nobody ever gets even close to that! His idea of "negotiating" is not paying what he owes, then swamping the defendant with lawyer costs when they take him to court.
He's said several times that he likes when the economy is bad. He makes a lot of money when the economy tanks. “I’ve always made more money in bad markets than in good markets.”
He has a proven history that he likes bad markets, and he's potentially going to be making decisions on how well the market will be or not be? Based on his proven track record, and his own statements, he's going to want to tank the economy so he makes more money.
so...he's a bad businessman, bad negotiator, bad uniter, bad decision maker, is spiteful, vengeful, quick-to-anger, vindictive, changes his opinion several times in the same paragraph, has no actual plans, is involved in rape accusations, Federal fraud case, accused of ties to the Mob....

Re: Convince me what will change if I vote for ....
Realistically, I do not think much will change under a Clinton presidency. Especially if the Republicans hold the House and Senate. But I am ok with that.
As for Trump, I found this article which is interesting: Link
It's from a conservative site, and true conservatives seem to hate Trump as much as liberals. But I felt it was well presented and drew some solid conclusions about a Trump presidency based on his behavior, his track record and what he says he'll do.

I'm not sure what would change to make it a better place.
But what I am completely scared of is the republican party's nominations to the supreme court.
None of us would ever be able to tell you what will make us safer. Because that is an ever changing target. Once you make one thing safe as far as national security the terrorist will find a way around it.
I think voting for a candidate is about big picture not one issue or even a few issues. You need to think longer term.
But again this is just my personal view on politics. I vote for party ideals not for the actual person. If the party aligns with my beliefs that's where I will be as one person cannot make the laws....you need the entire party behind you.

If Trump is elected... I can see him ruining foreign relations with allies because he has already said he wouldn't necessarily come to the defense of our NATO allies, plus he just has the personality that is not conducive to compromise and patience.
He would appoint conservative supreme court justices that would most likely overturn roe v wade and the gay marriage act.
He wants to completely dissolve the EPA. Which is terrifying because climate change does exist and is only getting worse.
He wants to deport ALL illegal immigrants without even having a pathway to citizenship. Breaking up families and displacing people who have been here for decades.
The minimum wage stays the same or gets LOWERED.
The stupid wall, the muslim ban, the IDs for muslims living here...
There are so many more, but I'll stop there.
If Clinton is elected...
She appoints liberal justices that keep roe v wade, gay marriage act.
She wants to work towards paid family leave, raise the minimum wage, provide a path for illegal immigrants to become citizens.
She supports common sense gun control, as well as denying people on the no-fly and terror watch lists from purchasing guns.
She wants to improve mental health care and do more to fight the growing opioid epidemic.
The contrast is so black and white to me. Just go to both of their websites and you can see the difference. Hers has point by point details of what she wants to do, his reads like it was written by a 9-year old bully.
Example (this is actually from his website): "The Military I will make our Military so big, powerful and strong that no one wants to mess with us."
I mean, really?

Ok, Point well taken. See, I was just trying to fulfill the original request for info.
Like you, I have plenty of complaints about him. My biggest complaint is that he doesn't align with any political party but PRETENDS to. Just proves my point that he's only in it to make "deals".
