Come clean about your cleaning lady

I have a cleaning lady and I stress out every time she comes and wonder why I am cleaning for my cleaning lady??? How much do you clean before yours comes?

I make sure that things like toys are all where they belong so she can vacuum. I also empty and load the dishwasher because I prefer to do that myself.

I don't actually "clean" before she comes. I just straighten up so that when she comes, she can clean more effectively. I also make sure I have a clean set of sheets for all beds.

I think of it as what would you rather the cleaning lady spend time doing: floors, tubs & toilets or picking up toys/clutter.

See if I had a cleaning lady, I'd actually rather her do the clutter- because that is my main issue in my house.
I actually don't mind scrubbing a toilet- but I hate picking up and putting away. I'm so disorganized and it's so far gone!

But with the state of my house she'd have to charge $200 an hour for combat pay to do that. So, that's out....

I used to clean before, but I've stopped. My ladies just pile all my clutter up neatly or move it aside and do an awesome job cleaning. I definitely don't scrub anything before they come...because then why am I paying them?!?!

Lol! They have professional organizers for this! Our babysitter used to do it on the side (and for us if she was bored because she was awesome). It really does help and you don't need it weekly/biweekly/monthly!!!

Re: Come clean about your cleaning lady

I am an extremely tidy person so I just like to make sure my house is tidy before the cleaning lady comes. Typically the only thing I have to worry about the day she comes is putting our shoes away (in our closets from the mat in our entry way), putting dishes in the drying rack away, and making sure that the hutch in the kitchen- the one place that seems to collect mail and papers and stuff is cleaned off.
Everything else stays as is. picture frames, chochkies, etc stay where they are. She has always cleaned not only the furniture, but everything on the walls and display shelves.
I don't have her change sheets, do anything with the laundry or dishes. (Unless we had recently had overnight guests then I might leave sheets out for her to make up the guest room if I haven't done it already).
All and all, it takes me 10-15 at most. I am sure if I didn't keep up with it during the week it would be a pain.

If I left any clutter nothing would be cleaned....as it is they hardly clean anything! Seriously though, I have a bowl on my coffee table that I realized has never been cleaned under. She doesn't move the tissue box or toothbrush holder in the bathroom to clean under.

I actually came on here today to ask for recs because the one I have now has got to go!

So I remove as much clutter as possible but I certainly don't scrub anything.

Sounds like my husband is cleaning lady. Seriously though I would find someone new too that isn't cleaning!

Come clean about your cleaning lady

I just put as much stuff away as possible. I pay hourly, so the less that's in her way the quicker and easier it will be for her.

I thought for sure I would clean before she came because I would not want to be embarrassed but she told me she hates when people do that, so I don't do anything.

I just hired her recently and it's been amazing I just sweep here and there and if we clean up after ourselves every day it doesn't get too messy.

Re: Come clean about your cleaning lady

I make my kids clean up their toys before the cleaning lady comes, specifically the small toys and pieces that can get lost. i.e. legos, beyablades, pokemon.

Cleaning lady tends to throw toys in toy bin and then kids go looking for specific toys.

The only thing I clean before she comes over are the dishes... I gave up on cleaning for her.

We get rid of any clutter, I put away everything in our bathrooms so they're naked and there's nothing to do besides actual cleaning. I wouldn't want cleaning people handling my dishes, laundry, bed sheets, etc.
