Are there any free beaches on Long Island??
Every beach charges from $10-$20 just to park! Does anyone know of any free beaches? Preferably ocean. I'm a life long Resudebt if Ling Island and always wondered why, when we pay RIDICULOUS taxes, why can't we enjoy the ocean without a fee?

Honestly I don't think so. Especially on the Ocean.
You have either state parks- like Robert Moses or Jones Beach where you need an empire pass or a daily fee of $10 I think.
Then there are town beaches which are for town residents but you still have to pay even as a resident- just less than non residents (like Tobay)
I think they all charge fees to be honest....

I think they consider the beaches "free" since you are just paying for "parking". Have a friend or family member drop you off and pick you up. Free!

Free on Long Island??? HA!!!!
No free beaches here.
You can walk on the boardwalk in Long Beach and not pay (no parking fees), but to get onto the beach you have to pay (certain hours).

Hahaha not here. I've watched people park like a mile away and walk to the beach just to avoid paying. In NJ where my friend lives- not sure of the town or what beach it was I had to pay $15 TO WALK ON THE BEACH!!!! They put an arm bracelet on me and everything. I thought NY thought of it all until I experienced that

If you go to the beach often, you can get the Empire passport for $65 and then you won't have to pay the fee for state parks and beaches. Worth it only if you go a lot.

I may be wrong, but...
Isn't Corey Beach in Patchogue free? Park on the street. It may be a bit of a walk, but I imagine not too bad if you get there early.
