What happens when you lose your medical insurance cards?

I had my medical and dental insurance cards in my back pocket as I was walking around work today. I was waiting for a call back from a doctor and had to have the cards on me for the info when they called.

I got back to my desk and the cards were both gone. I retraced my steps a few times and couldn't' find them. I e-mailed the whole staff to keep an eye out and no one has returned them yet.

I called my medical insurance company and they mailed me out a new card and I printed a temporary off their website. I have two copies of my dental card so I still have one.

Can someone possibly use my insurance cards? I forgot to ask the medical company when I called. TIA
