40th birthday party at restaurant- how much for gift card?
Hi. We are going to a 40th bday party at a nice restaurant. How much of a gift card would you get? I am going to get to a particular store she likes.

50-100 depending on how friendly you are with the person you are celebrating..
For my 40th I had it at 300( Bowlmor now) in the back private room with the works and I have to say most gave $50.... That was 4 years ago...

ITA - Can't go wrong with $50 - $100. No matter what you give it will be appreciated. At this age I don't think you have a party for the gifts. We're just celebrating a night out, another year, night without kids, reason to dress up and celebate, have adult night, etc... LOL! At least that's how me and my friends are now that we are all just turning 40. :)

I think most 40 year olds are not looking for gifts ......it's just an excuse to get together with friends/family and party. A bottle of wine/liquor or $50 -$100 GC is more than enough, I think

Thanks everyone! If it was me I wouldn't expect much as I agree that the party is for the party and not gifts! I will do $50 and it's not one of my close friends!
