Want to look up my dad. We found out lot of things after his death, things he lied about and things I would like to find out if he lied about. I tried Ancestry.com and it was a dead end. TIA

If you are looking for news articles, you could try the library.
Here is what Sachem library gives access to. You should be able to access old articles.
http://sachemlibrary.org/department/databases/
ETA: If you are looking for Long Island area, there is a link on that page for historical Newsday access.

I was going to suggest the library also. If you go there I would imagine the librarians would know how to help you.

This is going to make me sound old, but if it still exists, I remember using microfilm and microfiche to look up old articles when I was younger at the library. I guessing it may be all digitized now.

Stony Brook University has a vast collection of microfilm news stories, but I'm not sure if it's available to the public. Also, ask a librarian at your local library. There is a news database called Lexis Nexis they may have access to.
