I have heard that drawing up a will can cost a lot...can you recommend someone that wont charge an arm and a leg?

A will should not cost a ton of money unless there are a tons of assets/trusts etc.
Costs are generally the same unless you use a $500/hr atty

in my experience, to have a lawyer draw up a will would be in the neighborhood of $750-$1000. if you want a living will and healthcare proxy, that could be another couple hundred more. if it's just for you, maybe those numbers would be slightly less as i was getting quotes for me and DH to have mirror documents (so nearly everything is the same, just one for each of us so it isn't a whole lot more work for the lawyer). our documents are all pretty boilerplate - no crazy circumstances or unusual assets.
