A couple of questions.

Should I purchase the attachment on top of the long dresser to change the baby on?

Purchase the hutch on top? How do I change the baby then?

Purchase the converter pieces?

First baby. On the hunt for furniture. Send pictures of your nursery if you'd life or any other helpful tips. Thank you!!!!

Baby furniture

Dd1 we purchased from Bellini and bought the changing table for the top of the dresser. Best changing table ever. It's huge. We didn't get her the hutch but she has a beautiful armoire.

Dd2 we bought Bassett baby. We bought her the hutch which is beautiful but we couldn't use the changing table on top with it so we purchased a separate corner changing table. It's great. Has a hamper underneath and a drawer for diapers, etc.

Re: Baby furniture

We got ours from behrs for dd2. The hutch on our set comes with bottom moldings so it's a standalone bookcase right now while the changing table is on the dresser. Then, in 2 years or so, we can put it on the dresser.

Dd1 used my old bedroom set, so we bought a separate changing table.

It's nice having the dresser right there because clothes are available for those frequent surprise blow outs and pee/poop moments mid-change!

For converters, ask the store. For dd2, we got everything when we ordered in case the style/color is ever discontinued. For dd1's crib, we got a Pali, which uses universal rails, so they will always be available as long as the company is. We decided for her to wait to get the full sized rails.but we got the toddler conversion at time of purchase. It's a slim box we put in her closet.

I got the changing topper, no hutch. And yes, you should get the converter pieces because the set might not be available when you're ready to buy them

ETA: I loved the hutch with it, but decided that it was more worth it to purchase the tall dresser instead. It was only $100 more than the hutch and you're getting 5 more dressers of space

We didn't buy the hutch piece - I just felt like it was enormous and I would rather have the room to change the baby. I also didn't put the changing rails on the dresser - just plopped the changing pad right on top.

Buy the conversion rails for your crib at time of purchase. We did not buy toddler rails, but bought the full size conversion rails for when we converted his bed to a full size bed. We bought a separate toddler bed for like $40 that did just fine and saved us over $100 from having to buy the toddler conversion rails.

I didn't have a hutch or changing table top because my set doesn't have them. I need to figure out how to securely fasten the changing pad to the dresser now. We got dd the low and high dressers. We also bought both the toddler conversion kit and the full size conversion kit. Her furniture was very expensive so she's using it until she goes to college, even if she hates it!

no hutch, we just used the dresser as a changing table and put a changing pad on top.

ETA I would purchase the converter pieces now, we made the mistake of waiting and now the crib that I need the pieces for is discontinued

I have a the dresser with the hutch, crib, night stand, and changing table.

I don't like changing the baby from the side anyway so I thought the changing table was a better option. It sits at the end of the crib.

ETA: Also purchased the converter pieces in case the pieces get discontinued- toddler bed and full sized bed.

Re: Baby furniture

We didn't bother with the changing attachment. The changing pad has snaps that go onto the back of the dresser and I put an anit skid thing that goes under rugs under the changing pad.

I didn't bother with the hutch because I figured I wouldn't be able to use the dresser as a changing table. I want to put a shelf above the dresser instead.

We did order the conversion rail kit because if it gets discontinued then you're screwed. I've been at BBB twice when people called upset because their set was discontinued in two or three years.

As for tips, if you're getting a convertible crib, remember DC will have the furniture for 10-20 years. Make sure it's something a teen will be happy with. Make sure the drawers are deep and durable.
I wanted a front that had a curve since I'm short. I figured it would be easier to place the baby into the crib.

Re: Baby furniture

I didn't get the changing table piece for the top of the dresser. IMO you don't really need it. Just put the changing pad right on the top of the dresser.

I also didn't get the hutch, but that I regret. It would have been nice to have as he got older.

Get the crib conversion kit right away. We waited until he was older and we needed it, and thank god it happened to be JUST before they discontinued the set. We were almost sh!t out of luck Chat Icon

We just bought the long dresser and put a changing pad on top. It worked out fine.

We used the hutch but once he could sit up we had to take the bottom shelf down because he kept hitting his head. We'll put the shelf back up when he doesn't change on the dressed anymore.

We didn't buy the converter for the crib. We did the math and, when we were thinking we were having another, (not anymore) it would be more expensive to buy a whole other crib than to buy a bed and mattress for the older sibling.

Re: Baby furniture

we did not put the attachement on the dresser for the changing pad. i put a rubber mat under it so it would not slip.

for DS2 we bough the hutch, but it can be used as a separate bookcase, so right now that is how it is used. I don't like the hutch on the dresser when it is being used as a changing table, so if we/he wants when he is older we can put it on the dresser instead.

I didn't purchase conversion rails with DS1, and the manufacture (well known) stopped making children's furniture and I paid about double and was just able to get them. So the second time around we purchased them with the furniture to be safe. We bought each of them their forever furniture from the beginning.
