Two godparents of the same sex...?
Possible? Most likely the answer is no, but curious if anyone's ever heard of it and what Catholic parish has done it if it exists.

I could be wrong but as far as I know, th Catholic church won't allow that. We had to choose a godFATHER and godMOTHER, I don't think they will allow you to do it any other way.

Same. Actually, we were told if we couldn't choose a male AND female, then to just choose one OR the other. You can have just a godmother, or just a godfather, but not 2 of the same.

While I didn't specifically ask, the form the church filled out had the godparents listed as sponsor 1 and sponsor 2. I'm not saying that they would allow 2 of the same sex (they probably won't) but I would certainly ask.

Yes!my sister and I are godparents to another sisters daughter..catholic church and it was no problem.

We had 2 godmothers. Officially, one is godparent and one is a "sponsor" or "witness" (can't remember exactly, this was for our first dc 10 years ago), but they had no problem with it.

Yep, my cousin wanted both her sisters to be godmothers and her church had her older sister be the baby's godmother and her younger sister to be the baby's sponsor

Depends on the parish. My parish initially told me no but when neighboring parishes said yes they reconsidered and allowed it. Technically only one godparent signs the book anyway. If you want it you can find a church that will do it.

Depends on the church.
I am the Godmother to my nephew and there were two Godmothers. We are both listed on the baptismal form as Godparent.
For the right check and church, it can be done.

Are you asking if there can be two Godmothers instead of one godmother and one godfather? If so, you will need to check with your church - I'm not sure on that.
But, my DD has a godfather and 2 godmothers. On her baptism certificate one is listed as the official godmother and the other is a witness.

Exactly this. My son has 2 Godmothers. One is technically the Godmother and the other is the sponsor on the paperwork with the church. But as far as we are concerned, they're both the Godmothers.
